Running Scared 5K & 13K Las Vegas brings a Halloween-themed morning of running, costumes, and competition to Mountain’s Edge Regional Park on October 18th, 2026. Race-day registration and check-in begin at 7:15 AM, followed by the Scaredy Cat 5K at 8:00 AM and the Heart Pounding 13K at 8:30 AM.
Runners can choose the shorter 5K, step up to the 13K, or take on the Deadly Double by completing both distances. Costumes are encouraged, giving the morning a Halloween atmosphere while still offering competitive timing and awards for runners looking to race seriously.
Choose the Scaredy Cat 5K or Heart Pounding 13K
The Scaredy Cat 5K follows a flat course inside the park using the Bonanza Trail. Organizers describe the 5K as especially suitable for runners hoping to set a personal record, while the park setting also makes the course accessible for spectators and families.
The Heart Pounding 13K gives participants a longer challenge while keeping the same Halloween theme. Both distances welcome runners looking for competition and those who simply want a fun seasonal race experience.
Take on the Deadly Double
Runners looking for an extra challenge can register for the Deadly Double, which requires completing both the 5K and 13K. The combination adds an endurance component to the morning and includes its own recognition for the top male and female finishers.
Awards are also presented in the individual races, including overall, Masters, Grand Masters, Senior Masters, and five-year age-group categories.
Costumes, Race Shirts and Finisher Medals
Halloween costumes are encouraged, so runners can race in traditional running gear or add a spooky theme to their morning. Participants registering for the standard race option receive a long-sleeve race shirt and a custom finisher medal.
Runners who want to participate without receiving race swag can also choose designated No Swag registration options. To guarantee a shirt in their selected size, participants must register by the organizer’s shirt deadline.
Running at Mountain’s Edge Regional Park
The race takes place entirely outdoors at Mountain’s Edge Regional Park using trails within the park. The area includes walking and running paths, open recreation spaces, and facilities that make it well-suited to community races.

A Race Supporting Ava’s Avengers
The event’s charity partner is Ava’s Avengers, an organization that supports individuals and families facing socioeconomic and health-related challenges. The organization participates in running events and other charitable activities aimed at raising awareness and building community support.
Packet Pickup and Race Morning
Race-day packet pickup begins at 7:15 AM, giving participants time to check in before the first race starts. If an early packet pickup option becomes available, organizers will add those details closer to race day.
The event takes place rain or shine unless extreme weather creates unsafe conditions. Comfortable running shoes, water, and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended for the October morning start.
Tickets and Registration
Current registration starts at $30 for the 5K and $35 for the 13K, while the Deadly Double is currently $55. Prices increase after October 10th. Registration options without race swag are also available, and all registrations are final with no refunds, deferments, or transfers.
