Let me tell you a secret we don’t share nearly enough here in Las Vegas: you don’t have to head to the Strip for a proper day of pampering.

No casino crowds. No slot machines chiming in the background. No complicated resort maze before you finally reach the quiet part.

Instead, head into Desert Shores, where The Spa at Lakeside sits right beside the water at 2620 Regatta Drive. Yes, the water. In the middle of Las Vegas.

I’m a mom, and I love my people fiercely, but I also love those rare, glorious hours when nobody needs a snack, a ride, or a referee. This is where I spend them.

Calm waters of Lake Jacqueline reflecting waterfront homes and palm trees in the Desert Shores neighborhood of Las Vegas.
The peaceful waters of Lake Jacqueline create a scenic backdrop for a spa day at The Spa at Lakeside, far from the Las Vegas Strip.

A Spa Day That Starts With the Lake

Here’s the part that makes newcomers do a double-take. Desert Shores is built around a series of man-made lakes, and The Spa at Lakeside occupies one of the quietest little corners of the neighborhood.

Before your treatment even begins, the setting starts doing some of the work for you. Instead of a hotel corridor or casino floor, you’ll find water, greenery, and a slower pace that feels almost disconnected from the rest of Las Vegas.

Some treatments can even move outside when the weather cooperates. The spa’s Lakeside Scalp Massage, Foot Awakening, and RAJA Retreat are among the services you can get on the back terrace overlooking the lake.

That terrace is a big part of what makes this place different.

There is something wonderfully ridiculous about sitting beside the water in Las Vegas while somebody tends to your very tired feet. Your shoulders start dropping before you even realize they were tense.

If you want to ease into the morning before your appointment, The Daily Bread is practically next door and makes an easy stop for coffee, croissants, or something fresh from the bakery before disappearing into spa mode.

The Massages: Pick Your Level of Escape

The massage menu is refreshingly straightforward.

Swedish Classic

If you’ve never had a massage before, the spa itself recommends starting with the Swedish Classic. Long strokes and kneading keep things relaxing rather than overly intense, making it a good introduction if your goal is simply to shut your brain off for a while.

Dynamic Combo

If you want something with a little more range, the Dynamic Combo mixes Swedish techniques, firmer pressure, and the spa’s Lakeside Stone Massage approach.

That gives you the relaxation of a traditional massage while letting the therapist focus more on the areas that have been complaining the loudest.

The welcoming reception area at The Spa at Lakeside features warm lighting, rustic details, and a selection of skincare products.

Prenatal and Postnatal Massage

Expecting and new moms have dedicated prenatal and postnatal options as well. The spa currently notes that prenatal massage isn’t recommended during the first trimester, and it doesn’t offer an 80-minute version for prenatal guests.

Deep Tissue Problem Solving Therapy

For something more intense, Deep Tissue focuses on deeper layers of muscle and fascia rather than simply putting you to sleep for an hour.

The current pricing lands nicely:

  • 25 minutes — $65
  • 50 minutes — $95
  • 80 minutes — $125

Twenty-five minutes works when one area desperately needs attention. Fifty feels like a proper reset. Eighty is for days when you would rather not rejoin society anytime soon.

Gratuity is not included, and the spa notes that pricing can change, so I still like confirming everything when I book.

Going with your person? Ask about the couples room for a side-by-side massage.

The Body Treatments Are Where Things Get Fun

A massage is easy to understand. Some body treatments are where The Spa at Lakeside starts to develop a little more personality.

Body Wrap

The Body Wrap begins with dry brushing before FarmHouse Fresh body butter is applied to the skin. Once you’re wrapped up, the treatment continues with attention to your scalp and feet while everything absorbs.

The 50-minute treatment is currently $110, while the longer 80-minute version adds massage time and is listed at $140.

Foot Awakening

But the star for me is the Foot Awakening.

This is the one that lives rent-free in my head.

Weather permitting, the 50-minute treatment takes place outside on the lakeside terrace and combines a soothing scrub, hydrating foot mask, and foot-and-leg massage.

And then they give you a cookie and tea.

Seriously.

Sitting outside, looking over the lake, feet in heaven, warm cookie in hand, sipping tea. What more can you ask for?

The Foot Awakening is currently listed at $95.

Vitalize Leg and Foot Treatment

If you want the quicker version, the 25-minute Vitalize Leg and Foot Treatment skips the moisturizing foot wrap but still includes exfoliation and massage. It is currently $65 and works nicely as either a shorter visit or an add-on.

RAJA Retreat

Can’t decide between your head and your feet?

The RAJA Retreat combines the Lakeside Scalp Massage with the Foot Awakening into an 80-minute treatment. Weather permitting, you can also do it on the terrace overlooking the lake.

At the time of writing, it is listed at $140.

Facials Without the Pretension

The facial menu leans into serious skincare, but the experience itself doesn’t feel clinical or intimidating.

The spa currently uses British skincare lines from Eve Taylor and TheraGenesis. The spa says the products are paraben-free, avoid several common irritants, and have not been tested on animals.

Classic European Facial

The Classic European Facial is the relaxing staple: cleansing, exfoliation, facial massage, a mask, toner, and moisturizer selected for your skin.

The 50-minute version is currently listed at $95.

Retreat Facial

If your skin is having one of those weeks where it has apparently decided to develop its own personality, the Retreat Facial gives the aesthetician more time to customize the service, work on extractions and use stronger exfoliating treatments when appropriate.

The 80-minute Retreat Facial is currently $125.

Ultra Facials

The 80-minute Eve Taylor Ultra Facials go deeper into specific skincare goals, with options focused on hydration, clarifying, brightening, and firming. They’re currently listed at $165.

Mini Facial

When you’re short on time, the 25-minute Mini Facial handles the basics with cleansing, exfoliation, steam, and a customized mask for $65.

My personal move? A facial plus the Foot Awakening. Face and feet, both sorted.

Turning the Appointment Into a Full Desert Shores Day

One advantage of this location is that you don’t really have to leave once the spa treatment ends.

If you want more than coffee and a pastry, Marché Bacchus is right in Lakeside Village and gives the day an entirely different direction. The French-inspired restaurant and wine shop overlooks Lake Jacqueline, making it an especially natural choice for a leisurely brunch before your treatment or a glass of wine afterward.

A glass of Pinot Noir catches the light with Lake Jacqueline shimmering in the background.

That’s what I like about this pocket of Desert Shores. You can build an entire slow day without spending half of it driving across town.

Spa Packages for When a Quick Massage Isn’t Enough

If you’re going to escape, you may as well escape properly.

The spa offers several packages that combine massages, facials, and body treatments into longer experiences.

Enchantment

Enchantment combines a full-body massage with a European facial. It is currently listed as a two-hour treatment for $180.

Serenity

Serenity adds a moisturizing body wrap to the massage and European facial, stretching the experience to about three hours. Current pricing is $285.

Tranquility

Tranquility pairs a full-body massage and Classic European Facial with the RAJA Retreat for a roughly three-and-a-half-hour experience. It is currently $310, with an optional body-wrap upgrade available through the spa.

Ultimate Spa Rejuvenation

And then there’s the Ultimate Spa Rejuvenation.

This is not the treatment you squeeze in between errands.

The approximately five-hour package combines a body wrap, full-body massage, an 80-minute Ultra Facial with microdermabrasion, and the 80-minute RAJA Retreat. Current pricing is $535.

Clear your calendar.

Bringing Your Person Along

This doesn’t have to be a solo escape.

The Couple Romance Massage is performed side by side in the couples suite and currently runs $190 for two people for 50 minutes or $250 for two for 80 minutes.

That’s a genuinely nice date when you want something quieter than another dinner-and-a-movie night.

The spa also offers a Couple Celebration built around an 80-minute Dynamic Combo Massage followed by the Foot Awakening.

If this kind of self-care date sounds appealing but you want a more traditional resort-spa experience another time, we also spent a day at Spa Aquae at JW Marriott Las Vegas, where the experience includes resort-style spa amenities and a completely different atmosphere.

When Spa Time Turns Into Dinner

One of the easiest mistakes to make here is booking an afternoon appointment and then realizing you don’t actually want to go home.

Luckily, you’re already in a very good neighborhood for dinner.

Nittaya’s Secret Kitchen is just a short drive away for Thai food with a creative, polished approach and an intimate dining room that works especially well after a relaxing afternoon.

Americana is another natural choice if you want to keep the lakeside theme going. The restaurant sits directly on Lake Jacqueline in Desert Shores, so you can move from a spa afternoon into a waterfront dinner without completely breaking the mood.

And just a little farther up toward Rampart and Lake Mead, Ohlala French Bistro gives you another intimate neighborhood option if a French dinner sounds like the right way to end the day.

A Different Kind of Las Vegas Spa Day

Las Vegas has enormous resort spas with elaborate locker rooms, pools, saunas, and entire menus of treatments. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want.

But The Spa at Lakeside works for a different reason.

It’s smaller. It’s local. And instead of building an artificial escape from Las Vegas, it uses one of the valley’s most peaceful neighborhoods as the backdrop.

If you’re curious about a more specialized wellness experience, Invita Head Spa in Boca Park takes self-care in another direction with scalp analysis, cleansing, massage, and a Japanese-inspired head-spa experience.

The Spa at Lakeside, though, is the one I return to when I want the simple version: a quiet room, tired feet, and a lake outside.

Booking Your Escape

Appointments are required, and the spa recommends booking about a week in advance, though same-day appointments may occasionally be available.

Guests are asked to arrive about 15 minutes early, and appointments may require a 50% deposit. The spa also has a 24-hour cancellation policy, and gratuity is not included in listed prices.

The Spa at Lakeside is currently open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Whether you’re sneaking away alone with a cookie and a lake view or bringing your favorite person for a side-by-side afternoon, this is one of those Las Vegas experiences that proves you don’t need a resort tower or casino floor to properly disappear for a few hours.

Sometimes all you need is a massage, a quiet terrace, and a little water in the desert.
