Evel Pie: Fremont’s Daredevil Pizza Joint

A slice of pizza at Evel Pie on East Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas.

Evel Pie (locals jokingly call it “Evil Pie”) is the kind of place you stumble into at 2 a.m. after a night out on Fremont East and immediately feel like you belong. It’s a raucous, dive-bar-meets-pizzeria dedicated to stunt legend Evel Knievel – think neon signs, red-white-and-blue bunting, and Evel’s face on every wall.

The decor is wall-to-wall Knievel memorabilia: there’s a life-size Evel statue posing in the corner, an Evel Knievel bicycle hanging from the ceiling, vintage pinball machines, old beer ads, and hundreds of photos of Evel in his signature cape and jumpsuit. The vibe is raw and 70s–era rock ‘n’ roll – exactly the kind of gritty, fun scene Knievel himself would have approved of.

Downtown locals love that Evel Pie doesn’t take itself too seriously (aside from the pizza, which they take very seriously). It’s a long padded bar where regulars swap wild Vegas stories over cheap beers, and classic rock blares on the speakers.

The place feels like a friendly neighborhood dive – music loud, bartenders pinning dollar bills on the wall, and pizza ovens churning out New York–style slices as fast as Evel could jump a canyon. In fact, the owners lean fully into the old-school theme. No trendy toppings here – it’s no-frills NY pizza with quality ingredients, cooked fast and with attitude.

The Daredevil Spirit

The whole point of Evel Pie is to honor Evel Knievel’s Vegas legacy. Back in 1967, Knievel famously jumped the Caesar’s Palace fountain (and spectacularly crashed), etching Vegas into stunt history. Now Evel Pie pays tribute by surrounding you with that daredevil energy.

Every angle of the joint screams Evel – the star-spangled bar front, the pinball machine still flashing vintage lights, even Evel’s portrait in his red, white, and blue suit above the bar. It’s kitschy in the best way, and it sets the tone for a laid-back, come-as-you-are kind of pizza night.

You’ll hear people say the attitude here is as big as Evel’s ego. It’s a dive bar, but in a good way – the kind of place that feels lived-in. One write-up summed it up perfectly: “the bar is long (padded edge for stashing dollar bills), there are loyal regulars, the music is loud, the drinks are cheap, and the vibe is casual and friendly”. And despite all the Evel kitsch, the pizza isn’t a gimmick. Locals will tell you it’s damn good pizza that would fit right in back on the East Coast.

Pizzas Worthy of a Stunt

The menu at Evel Pie reads like the ride sheet of a rally: it’s packed with heavy hitters and a few freaky specials. Here are a few favorites you’ll hear locals rave about:

The White Pie (Barry White) (Pictured) – A decadent, all-cheese classic. This is a “white pizza” slathered with a creamy blend of mozzarella, pecorino, and ricotta cheeses. It’s buttery and garlicky (in a good way), with ribbons of fresh basil sneaking through the blanket of cheese. No tomato sauce – just pure, gooey richness. Fans say it’s the perfect mellow counterpoint to the big, meaty pizzas on the menu.

Hog Heaven (Pictured) – This one’s an icon. Imagine BBQ heaven on a slice: Evel Pie’s signature BBQ sauce is the base, then they pile on pulled pork, smoky “man candy” bacon, red onion slices, and gooey smoked mozzarella. Every bite is tangy, meaty, and a little sweet. It’s not subtle, and that’s the point – eating Hog Heaven feels like Evel doing a wheelie in flavor-land. Locals love its messy, over-the-top attitude.

Goblin Sausage – Carnivore alert! The Goblin Sausage pizza is basically a meat explosion. On top of the tomato sauce and mozzarella, it’s loaded with pepperoni, ham, Italian sausage, and bacon. Think of every delicious deli meat all jammed onto one crust. It’s the kind of pie you split with friends after a few rounds of cheap late-night beers, because no one can (or should) handle that much protein alone.

The Snake River Special – If you’re feeling adventurous, the Snake River Special is a must-try local legend. It’s topped with actual rattlesnake sausage (yes, real snake!), roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, and mozzarella on a bed of red sauce. It’s Vegas culinary bravado — earthy snake meat with sweet onions — and it’s surprisingly tasty. It’s not on the menu every day, but locals will tell you: if Snake River is available, order it just to say you did.

Cheesy Rider – For those nights when you just need pure comfort cheese, the Cheesy Rider (yes, that’s Cheesy with a “C”) is the answer. It’s essentially just mozzarella, mozzarella, and more mozzarella. No sauce, no distractions – just a boatload of stretchy, melty cheese on a crispy crust. It’s simple, but at 3 a.m., it’s everything you could want: insanely cheesy, perfectly salty, and ridiculously satisfying.

(Other notables: The “Balls to the Wall” has meatballs, ricotta, and onions; the Maui Wowie brings ham, pineapple, and jalapeño; they even have gluten-free deep-dish and vegan options. But honestly, the Wild West pieces above are why locals keep coming back.)

Fast, Loud, and Open All Night

One thing Evel Pie knows Vegas locals need is late-night service. They’re open until 2:00 a.m. most nights, and on weekends Fri/Sat until 4:20 a.m. That makes it the perfect pit stop after hitting Fremont East’s bars and clubs.

Picture this: you’ve just finished a round of craft cocktails at Corduroy Distillery next door or polished off a frosty one at Atomic Liquors (Vegas’s oldest freestanding bar, just down the block). The club just dumped everyone out at last call. Where do you go? Straight across the street to Evel Pie for a slice.

At 3 in the morning, the parking lot behind Evel might be as full as the bar – fellow locals, bartenders, even cab drivers grabbing a bite after shift. The slice of pizza in hand is as essential as the neon on Fremont Street.

Even on a slow weeknight, the joint hums with energy. It’s common to see a live band or DJ on stage (they have live music nights a couple of times a month), along with a mix of after-work folks and party people. The tables are covered in dollar bills and band stickers, and the air smells of garlic and beer. The pace is fast – the kitchen’s churning out slice after slice to keep up with the flow of orders.

All the while, classic rock or punk blares; you might catch a Black Sabbath or Motorhead tune mixing with the hiss of the oven. It’s loud, gritty, and fun – exactly what a Vegas after-hours crowd craves.

Perfect Post-Bar Fuel

Locals often say Evel Pie is the last stop of the night. It’s casual, unpretentious, and open so late you literally can roll up in flip-flops after pub crawling. Sit at the bar or grab a table and watch the signs swinging, or snag a slice to go and eat it in the park or on the sidewalk (be warned: a 3 a.m. snake sausage slice may perplex casual tourists).

The slices are huge – big enough to fold New York style, but thick enough to hold a ton of toppings. Each one feels like fuel for another round of Vegas living.

And since Fremont East is full of fellow hole-in-the-wall hotspots, it all connects perfectly. After darts and drinks at The Griffin, a hockey game at Casale’s, or a roaring night at Commonwealth, people know to save room for Evel Pie. Even folks coming from downtown classics like Pizza Rock or Naked City will detour here for the novelty.

The distillery Corduroy’s cocktails across the street and Atomic’s beers around the corner make Evel Pie a natural third space. You’re as likely to see a suit at the bar as a tattooed rocker — as long as you’re hungry and ready to chow down, you’re welcome.

In the end, what makes Evel Pie truly memorable and beloved is exactly that blend of things only Vegas can do: it’s fast, a little raucous, packed with personality, and just weird enough to be awesome. It feels improvised, a bit chaotic, but always delicious.

As one longtime local put it, it’s “one of Vegas’s funkiest bars” that also has one of the best slice joints in town.

Whether you came for the Evel Knievel theme or the promise of a late-night slice, you leave as part of the tribe: fueled, full, and ready to hit the strip again – or at least collapse into bed, dreaming of Evel’s next big jump.
