Craig Ranch Regional Park in North Las Vegas is big, green, and full of things to do. You can bring your kids, meet up with friends, or take a walk and watch the birds. There’s a little something for everyone without feeling too crowded or too far from home.
While the park offers over 100 acres of activities, there are a few things to check out during your visit!
From Golf Greens to Gathering Grounds
Before Craig Ranch Regional Park became one of North Las Vegas’s most popular parks, Craig Ranch was once a golf course. The land was flat, open, and unused for a while before the city stepped in.
In 2013, it officially opened as a public park and gave families a large new space to explore. What used to be fairways and putting greens has been transformed into ballfields, gardens, and wide open lawns.
It still keeps that peaceful feeling of open space but now welcomes a wider crowd. You can see how the past use of the land influenced the wide layout, making it easy to move from one area to the next!
Ponds, Paths, and Feathered Friends
The two ponds at Craig Ranch Regional Park are some of the park’s most peaceful spots. A paved trail loops around them, perfect for an easy walk with strollers or scooters.
Along the water, you’ll see ducks, geese, coots, and sometimes a great egret standing still near the edge. The trails around the pond connect to other parts of the park, so you can use it as a starting point or a calm end to a visit.
If you’re visiting Craig Ranch for a leisurely walk around the pond, then I’d recommend parking by the tennis and basketball courts by Southwest entrance. This give you a quicker and direct access to the ponds without walking too far!
The trees and open water attract plenty of birds, and kids love watching them dip, flap, or float by.
Slides, Splash, and Repeat Family Fun!
There are several playgrounds spread across Craig Ranch, each with its own setup and charm. The biggest one sits just west of the central lawn and has plenty of climbing structures, swings, and soft surfaces.
No summer visit to Craig Ranch is complete without going to the splash pads. The splash pads have water spouts that shoot water straight up to a fun water fountain that sprays the little ones with cold water on a hot summer day!
Another playground is tucked near the northeast corner of the park, great for smaller kids who need something simpler. On warm days, the splash pad near the central area is packed with energy—water jets, small fountains, and kids running in every direction.
Parents can relax nearby in shaded areas while the kids go back and forth from slides to sprays.
Lawn Seats and Local Sounds
Near the pond sits the amphitheater, backed by a wide green lawn that hosts events year-round. From food festivals to small concerts, there’s always something on the calendar. Families bring chairs and coolers and pick a spot on the hill to watch.
The Flavors of Aloha festival, one of the park’s biggest annual events, brings island music, food, and hula to the heart of North Las Vegas. This event is always held at the center lawn festival grounds of the park. Even on days without events, the lawn works as a simple picnic spot or a place to fly a kite.
It’s the kind of space that feels just as good with music as it does in silence.
Skaters, Hoopers, and Team Players
Craig Ranch has space for just about every sport you can think of. Tennis courts, volleyball courts, basketball courts, and two baseball fields give locals plenty of room to play. The standout is the 65,000-square-foot skate park, which draws skaters from all over the valley.
Designed with both street and transition features, it’s big enough for serious practice but still friendly for beginners. National competitions have been held here, but it stays open and welcoming to local kids looking for a place to ride.
All the sports areas sit near parking and shade, so families can spread out and spend time doing what they love.
A Garden Worth Slowing Down For
Tucked in the southeast corner, the Community Garden is one of the park’s quietest and most thoughtful spaces. Dozens of garden plots fill the area with color and growth, each one cared for by someone in the neighborhood.
It’s a calm place to walk through, especially in the early morning. Families who rent plots come weekly to plant, water, and pick what’s ready. It’s an easy way to teach kids where food comes from and to meet neighbors doing the same.
The garden’s slower pace makes it a good final stop before heading home.
Pack Up & Show Up To The Park
Craig Ranch Regional Park doesn’t ask for much planning. That’s one of its best features. Pack a lunch, bring a ball, or just wander until the kids find a new corner to explore.
With so many areas to play, relax, and connect, it’s an easy go-to for families who want a mix of fun and peace. The space is open, the options are many, and it’s always waiting.
