Clark County Wetlands Park and Wetlands Park Friends invite the public to a free Summer Evening Lecture on Thursday, August 21, from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Nature Center Auditorium, featuring Nick Rice, Senior Environmental Biologist at the Southern Nevada Water Authority, who will present:
“The Desert Scrub: A Walk Along the Uplands of the Las Vegas Wash.”
The Las Vegas Wash flows through the heart of the Wetlands Park, but one of its most fascinating ecosystems is often overlooked—the upland desert scrub habitat found along the northern edge of the park.
As the largest and least visited area of the Wetlands, this diverse habitat is home to a wide range of plants and animals uniquely adapted to desert life. In this informative and engaging talk, Nick Rice will walk guests through the ecological significance of the uplands, highlight key species that thrive there, and share insights on how this area contributes to the overall health of the Las Vegas Wash.
Whether you’re a local, a budding naturalist, or someone who simply enjoys learning about the environment, this lecture is a great way to connect with the hidden beauty of our desert landscape.
✨ No RSVP needed—just show up, bring your curiosity, and enjoy an evening of discovery in nature!
