The Nevada Shakespeare Festival, in partnership with the City of Henderson, brings a bold and wildly entertaining twist to a Shakespearean classic with The Taming of the Shrew.

This fresh adaptation flips the script on Shakespeare’s famously fiery comedy, turning its themes of gender roles and materialism into a chaotic, laugh-out-loud theatrical experience.

What starts as a classic battle of the sexes between the sharp-tongued Katherine and the determined Petruchio quickly spirals into complete mayhem.

Expect the unexpected as this “play within a play…within a play” unfolds with broken stools, collapsing set pieces, forgotten lines, and surprise understudies.

Add in Baptista’s matchmaking struggles for Bianca and a completely out-of-place security guard trying to book a film in Los Angeles, and you’ve got a production that’s intentionally disastrous in the most entertaining way possible.

Directed and adapted by Matt Morgan, this production blends traditional Shakespeare with modern humor, physical comedy, and a touch of theatrical chaos—proving that sometimes the messiest shows are the most fun.

Stick around after the Sunday, April 26 matinee for a special talkback with the cast and artistic team, offering insight into the creative process behind this unique performance.
