Whether you’re swift like a hare or steady like a tortoise, this scenic 5K walk/run is for everyone!
The Tortoise Trot Trail Run returns this October, inviting runners and walkers of all levels to enjoy a relaxed, untimed morning surrounded by the breathtaking views of Red Rock Canyon.
The event starts and ends at the Red Rock Visitor Center, and the route follows the Moenkopi Loop, mixing road and trail terrain for a 360-degree natural experience.

- Start Time: 7:00 AM (Shuttles run 6:00–6:40 AM)
- Capacity: Limited to 300 participants
👟 Family-Friendly Fun
This event welcomes all ages and experience levels. Children ages 5 to 11 must be accompanied by an adult. For safety reasons, jogging strollers and dogs are not allowed on the course.
🎁 Race Swag
All participants who register by September 1, 2025 will be guaranteed their preferred t-shirt size. Finishers will receive a commemorative Tort Trot medal to add to their collection.
📦 Packet Pickup
Pick up your bib and race materials early to avoid race day stress:
- Date: Friday, October 10
- Time: 3 PM – 6 PM
- Location: REI Boca Park
Race-day pickup will also be available at the shuttle site.
🚌 Shuttle Details
All participants must park at West CTA and ride the FREE shuttle to Red Rock Canyon. Your bib number is your shuttle pass.
- First shuttle departs: 6:00 AM
- Last shuttle departs: 6:40 AM
- Return shuttles: 8:15 AM – 9:45 AM
💧 Hydration & Sustainability
There will be one water station at Mile 1.5 and another at the finish line. To protect the environment, no plastic bottles are allowed on the course. Please bring a reusable container for hydration.
🐍 Respect Wildlife
This event takes place in a national conservation area, home to tortoises, burros, snakes, and other desert dwellers. Do not touch or feed any wildlife—help preserve their habitat by being a respectful guest on the trail.
