If you’ve ever dreamed of a dessert that was a little outrageous, a little nostalgic, and completely unforgettable, Yonutz brought that idea to life as the home of the smashed donut. This whimsical dessert shop was anything but ordinary. It was where gourmet donuts met creamy ice cream before everything was pressed, smashed, and topped with plenty of sugary extras.

We stopped by the Centennial location of Yonutz in Las Vegas, and from the moment we walked in, it was clear this was not an average ice cream and donut shop.

Donut-Licious Dreams With Every Scoop

Yonutz was more than a donut shop—it was an entire dessert experience. Bright colors, pop-art-style graphics, and a playful atmosphere made the space feel like a candy-colored theme park, but the real attraction was the menu.

It was filled with over-the-top creations like Epic Shakes, Gourmet Donuts, Ice Cream Sandwiches, and the brand’s signature Smashed Donuts. It was the kind of place where a quick dessert stop could easily turn into a reason to come back and try something else.

A delicious lineup of unique donuts you won’t find anywhere else!

At the heart of the concept was the Smashed Donut, a hot-and-cold combination that was almost as entertaining to watch being made as it was to eat. A favorite donut could be filled with a favorite ice cream, pressed flat like a waffle, and finished with colorful toppings. The result combined sweet, crunchy, gooey, creamy, warm, and cold textures in one dessert.

How It Worked: The Yonutz Smash

Here was the process behind Yonutz’s most recognizable treat—the Smashed Donut:

Pick Your Donut – Guests started by choosing from a variety of gourmet donuts, including options like Fruity Pebbles, Maple Bacon, Cookies & Cream, and more.

Slice It – The staff sliced the donut horizontally to create a sandwich-style base.

Add Ice Cream – Guests selected an ice cream flavor such as vanilla, chocolate, mint chip, or birthday cake, which was scooped generously between the two donut halves.

Smash It! – The entire sandwich was placed into a custom waffle-style press, creating a warmer and slightly crisp exterior around the cold, creamy center.

Top It Off – Toppings such as crushed Oreos, caramel drizzle, Nutella, cereal, whipped cream, and candy pieces could be added to finish the creation.

Dig In – A spoon and plenty of napkins were useful, because this was never meant to be a dainty dessert.

The process felt part carnival, part dessert experiment, and completely indulgent.

What We Tried: Nutella Crunch Perfection

We ordered the Nutella Crunch Smashed Donut with vanilla ice cream and crushed Oreos, and it delivered exactly the kind of over-the-top experience the concept promised.

The donut remained pillowy-soft inside while developing a lightly crisp edge from the smash press. That warm dough paired especially well with the cold vanilla ice cream.

The Nutella added a rich hazelnut layer, while the crushed Oreos brought extra texture and a familiar nostalgic flavor.

Every bite balanced warm and cold, soft and crunchy, and rich and sweet. It was the kind of dessert that felt more like an experience than a simple donut.

A Kid’s Paradise (And Adults Loved It, Too)

The Centennial location in Las Vegas was vibrant, inviting, and full of energy. Colorful seating, playful wall art, and an upbeat atmosphere made the interior feel like a small dessert carnival.

Kids could head straight toward the display case to look over the rows of creative donuts and toppings. Adults had their own difficult decision to make between a Smashed Donut and one of the oversized shakes.

Whether guests stopped in for a casual afternoon treat or a birthday celebration, Yonutz created an environment where fun was a big part of the experience.

Build Your Own or Go All-In

Yonutz offered a “build your own” experience, allowing guests to customize their desserts. For anyone overwhelmed by the number of possible combinations, the signature menu offered several ready-made creations.

Some of the colorful combinations included:

The Unicorn Smash – A rainbow-style combination of sprinkles, cotton candy, and birthday cake ice cream.

Cookies & Cream Dream – A chocolate donut topped with cookies & cream ice cream, crushed Oreos, and a white drizzle.

The PB Overload – Peanut butter donut, chocolate ice cream, Reese’s Pieces, and peanut butter drizzle.

Guests who were not interested in the smashed creations could still order the regular donuts. Glazed, frosted, topped, or filled, they offered another way to experience the bakery without going all-in on the larger desserts.

Remembering Yonutz Centennial

Yonutz was more than a casual dessert shop. The Centennial location offered an experience designed to make guests smile from the moment they stepped inside until the final bite of their donut.

The menu was creative, the atmosphere was playful, and the smashed concept gave donuts and ice cream a distinctive twist.

What made the location memorable was the combination of familiar comfort-food flavors with a presentation that intentionally pushed everything further. It was colorful, indulgent, family-friendly, and unapologetically fun.

Although the Yonutz Centennial location has permanently closed, this article remains as a record of the Smashed Donuts, ice cream creations, and playful dessert experience it once brought to northwest Las Vegas.
