Some restaurants try to impress you the moment you walk through the door. Others simply feel welcoming right away. Guieb Café lands comfortably in the second category.
From the outside, it looks like a casual neighborhood café tucked into a strip plaza. Step inside, though, and the atmosphere shifts immediately. The dining room is bright, colorful, and full of personality, with large murals stretching across the walls and vibrant plates covering the tables.
Destony and I stopped in for a relaxed breakfast, and within minutes, it was clear why this place has built such a loyal following. The food leans into Hawaiian comfort classics, the space feels lively without being overwhelming, and the whole experience carries that easygoing energy that makes you want to linger a little longer.
A Dining Room Full of Color and Island Energy
The first thing you notice inside Guieb Café is the color. The dining room is filled with bright murals that stretch across the walls, blending ocean waves, tropical fish, and island scenery into one large piece of artwork that immediately sets the tone for the space.
The artwork feels playful rather than overdesigned. It fills the room with energy without distracting from the experience. Tables are simple, lighting is warm, and the murals act almost like a backdrop that keeps the entire space feeling lively.

Even the smaller details add to that personality. The plates are bright, the cups come in bold colors, and the overall atmosphere feels cheerful in a way that makes the dining room feel welcoming instead of staged.
“The whole place just has personality. Between the murals, the colorful plates, and the relaxed vibe, it immediately feels like somewhere you can settle in and enjoy breakfast without feeling rushed.”
Coffee That Matches the Playful Vibe
Sometimes it’s the smallest details that define a restaurant. At Guieb Café, even the coffee mugs fit the personality of the space.
When we ordered two hot coffees, Destony’s arrived in a pink mug while mine came out in a bright blue one. It’s a tiny detail, but it instantly fits with the playful tone of the dining room.
The coffee itself is simple and straightforward, the kind of warm cup you sip slowly while looking through the menu and deciding whether to go sweet, savory, or a little of both.
That moment of sitting down, coffee in hand, and watching plates move through the dining room sets the rhythm for the meal.
“I like when a place has those small details that show personality. The colorful mugs, the murals, even the plates all match the vibe of the room. It just feels fun in a way that makes breakfast feel a little more relaxed.”
Chicken Katsu Moco That Brings Serious Comfort
For my plate, I went with the Chicken Katsu Moco, one of the dishes that immediately jumps off the menu.
The plate arrives built around a generous bed of rice topped with crispy fried chicken katsu, two eggs, and a rich brown gravy. Mushrooms and onions finish the dish, adding extra flavor and texture across the top.

It’s the kind of breakfast plate that feels hearty the moment it lands on the table. The chicken stays crisp on the outside while the gravy and egg yolks mix together with the rice underneath, creating a rich combination that hits every comfort food note at once.
The mushrooms and onions add a bit of balance, keeping the dish from feeling too heavy while still letting the savory flavors dominate.
“This is the kind of plate that just works. Crispy chicken, eggs, gravy, and rice all mixed together is pure comfort food. Once the egg yolk breaks into the gravy it becomes one of those meals where every bite just gets better.”
Ube Mascarpone Pancakes That Steal the Table
Destony went in the opposite direction and ordered something sweet: the Ube Mascarpone Pancakes.

The plate arrives with a stack of fluffy pancakes infused with ube, the purple yam flavor that shows up often in Filipino desserts. The pancakes are topped with mascarpone cream and fresh fruit, giving the dish a bright, colorful presentation that immediately stands out.
The flavor stays balanced rather than overly sweet. The mascarpone adds a creamy richness while the fruit cuts through with a bit of freshness.

To round out the meal, she added a side of hash browns that arrived golden and crisp, giving the table a perfect mix of sweet and savory.
“The ube pancakes were awesome. They’re fluffy, colorful, and just sweet enough without going overboard. Paired with the crispy hash browns it ended up being the perfect balance between sweet and savory.”
A Breakfast Spot You Could Easily Turn Into a Habit
Guieb Café succeeds because it understands what people want from a breakfast spot. The food is comforting, the portions are satisfying, and the atmosphere makes you feel like you can relax instead of rushing through the meal.
The colorful dining room gives the restaurant its personality, but the real draw is the combination of Hawaiian comfort dishes and familiar breakfast favorites that make the menu feel both unique and approachable.

By the time we finished our meal, the dining room had filled in with families, couples, and small groups settling into their own breakfast plates. The energy stayed relaxed even as the room grew busier.
“It feels like the kind of breakfast spot you could easily come back to again and again. The food is satisfying, the vibe is relaxed, and the whole place just has a personality that makes it memorable.”
Places like Guieb Café don’t rely on hype or trends. They simply focus on good food, friendly service, and an atmosphere that makes people feel comfortable.
And sometimes that combination is exactly what makes a restaurant worth returning to.
