Ohjah Japanese Steakhouse – A Las Vegas Local’s “Everyone Wins” Dinner Spot

If you call yourself a true local, you should’ve been to at least one of Ohjah’s locations. And if you haven’t yet, add it to your next dinner plan—it’s that simple.

This past Sunday evening, the kids asked to go out for dinner. The debate started immediately (as it always does), and once the opinions got loud enough, there was one safe solution that guarantees a “yes” from everyone at the table: Ohjah Japanese Steakhouse.

Ohjah has built its name on an interactive Japanese dining experience—hibachi grills, sushi, and a menu that’s big enough to fit just about every craving. Since opening in June 2010, it’s become a favorite in Las Vegas and Pahrump, with the kind of consistency that locals appreciate.

Why Ohjah works when everyone wants something different

Ohjah is known for its sizzling hibachi tables—and if you’ve done the teppanyaki experience, you already know the vibe: the heat, the show, the onion “choo-choo train,” and that feeling that dinner is also entertainment.

But this time, we went with regular table seating. With a group (and kids) it’s sometimes the best move—everyone can order exactly what they want without negotiating a shared hibachi-style plan. And the best part is that Ohjah still feels like Ohjah no matter where you sit: the same energy, the same menu flexibility, the same “we’ve got you” service.

That flexibility is part of what’s made Ohjah such a local staple. Their own description says it best: from hibachi grills to fresh sushi, they aim for an immersive experience with a menu designed to cover “every Japanese dish you can imagine.”

Switching it up: from Flamingo to Sahara

The last time we went to Ohjah, we visited their Flamingo and Hualapai location—the one that sits a couple doors down from Lindo Michoacan. This time, we wanted something closer to home, so we headed to their W Sahara location.

I like this stretch of town because it’s packed with flavors and new businesses like Kungfu Dumplings and Vesta Coffee Roasters next door, but it still has a few plaza veterans holding strong. Ohjah fits that category perfectly—steady, familiar, and still busy.

When you walk in, you’ll notice the layout supports a few different moods: a front bar for drinks, a dinner bar that’s perfect for date nights, the teppanyaki tables that bring the full “show” experience, and standard table seating for everyone who just wants to eat well and keep things moving.

A lively Sunday vibe and a full house

Because it was a weekend evening, the restaurant was pretty full—and honestly, that’s always a good sign for a neighborhood favorite. Families were gathered around teppanyaki grills, couples looked like they were in full date-night mode, and you could feel that familiar buzz of locals doing what locals do: enjoying quality time over a reliable meal.

The staff stayed attentive from the moment we sat down, even with the pace of a busy night. Drinks were refilled, plates cleared quickly, and our food came out with great timing—especially important when you’ve got hungry kids watching every second like it’s a countdown timer.

What we ordered

Vegetable egg rolls

Crispy, hot, and exactly what you want at the start of a meal—something easy for the whole table to share while you decide the bigger orders. They’re a classic appetizer for a reason, and they set the tone for the night: comforting, familiar, and satisfying.

Garlic edamame

This one is always a great call. Ohjah describes it as stir-fried soybean with red pepper and garlic in soy sauce, and it hits that salty-garlicky snack zone perfectly. It’s the kind of starter that disappears fast because everyone keeps “just grabbing one more.”

Salmon roll

Simple, clean, and dependable. When you’ve got a table with different preferences, a salmon roll is one of those safe picks that still feels like a treat. It’s also a nice way to balance the heavier entrée plates that are about to hit the table.

Salmon teriyaki (8 oz.)

Fresh-cooked salmon served with teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds—this is one of those dishes that feels both hearty and light at the same time. The teriyaki brings that sweet-savory glaze, and the salmon stays the star of the plate.

New York steak teriyaki (10 oz.)

This was the “I want something bold” order of the night. Sliced New York steak (Certified Angus Beef) served with teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds, along with a bowl of miso soup and a house salad. It delivers that steakhouse satisfaction while still staying true to Ohjah’s Japanese comfort-food roots.

Chicken katsu curry

Lightly breaded chicken, deep fried, served in a thick curry—this one is pure comfort food. It’s warm, rich, and filling in the best way, especially when you’re out for an easy family dinner and want something that hits like a reward at the end of a long week.

Sides

Noodles

The noodles are an ideal add-on when you’re feeding a group. They stretch the meal, they’re easy to share, and they keep the table happy while everyone swaps bites.

Fried rice

This is one of those “it just belongs on the table” sides. It rounds everything out—especially alongside teriyaki plates—and it’s always the first thing kids reach for when they want something familiar.

Consistency across locations is the real “local secret.”

So far, we’ve visited three of Ohjah’s locations, and every time we notice the same thing: there’s a unified feel, look, and taste. It doesn’t matter which part of town you’re in—Ohjah stays Ohjah.

And with seven locations listed across Las Vegas, it’s easy to see why they’ve become the “safe choice” when the group can’t agree. You’re never too far from one, and you know what you’re getting when you walk in.

The staff is consistently attentive, the food tastes great, and it’s the kind of spot where you feel like you’re in good hands for your next dinner plan—whether you’re doing the full hibachi show or keeping it simple with table seating.

The unofficial challenge: all 7 locations

I don’t know if there’s a hidden prize for checking off all seven locations (if there is, someone please tell me). But we’re probably going to take on the challenge this upcoming year and report back—because if you’re going to do a local food mission, this is a pretty fun one.

For now, if you’re a Las Vegas local looking for that reliable “everyone wins” dinner spot—where one person wants sushi, another wants steak, another wants curry, and the kids just want fried rice—Ohjah is the move.
