Peg’s Glorified Ham N Eggs: Building A Community Through Breakfast

Peg's Glorified Ham N Eggs

Peg’s Glorified Ham N Eggs is where breakfast starts early, but the pace never feels rushed—just the steady rhythm of a kitchen that knows. The scent of sizzling ham, buttered toast, and brewed coffee pulls you in like an old friend.

Whether you’re a regular or just wandered in, it has a way of making you feel welcome. From pancakes stacked high to Hawaiian-style comfort food, Peg’s always serves something with heart.

How a Soapbox Dream Built a Breakspot Empire

Peg’s Glorified Ham N Eggs started with Fred, who stood on a soapbox at age nine to wash dishes. From the start, he wasn’t just helping—he was learning what it meant to work hard in a kitchen. Years later, after serving overseas in the U.S. Air Force, Fred returned home to Oregon.

That’s when he reunited with JoAnna, his high school friend who later became his wife. Together, they opened their first restaurant in 1959 and went on to run nearly 20 more over 35 years. After retiring to Reno, they opened one final fun spot in 1999.

That small breakfast joint became Peg’s Glorified Ham N Eggs. Now with locations across Nevada, Peg’s is still run by their kids and grandkids, carrying on a tradition born from love, grit, and eggs. That same legacy now lives on through every meal served—starting with the breakfast classics.

One Saturday morning, my girlfriend and I decided to pop in to the Henderson location for breakfast after a long week, and we were in for a delicious surprise!

Glorified Breakfasts That Hit All the Right Notes

If you like your mornings full of flavor, Peg’s has your plate ready. Their French Toast with eggs and bacon is simple, sweet, and filling—perfectly grilled slices of toast, fluffy eggs just how you like them, and crisp bacon that balances it all.

Looking for something heartier? They have the Fresh Veggie Omelette, which is topped with avocado and packed with greens. Every dish comes with toast and a side like hash browns, fruit, grits, or seasoned tots.

The Meat Lover’s Omelette brings sausage, ham, bacon, cheddar, and jack cheese together in one bite. The Original Joe’s Scramble is a fan favorite, combining ground chuck, mushrooms, onions, and spinach into something that sticks with you.

It’s all comforting, made fresh, and never overcomplicated. But if you’re in the mood to switch things up, Peg’s has another menu full of island flavor that stands out.

A Taste of the Islands in the Middle of the Desert

Peg’s “Aloha” from Hawaii menu offers something different—and that difference is delicious. The standout dish is the Loco Moco, a juicy ground chuck patty over white rice, covered in thick brown gravy and topped with two eggs. It’s rich, hearty, and comforting in the best way.

The loco moco is great if you want some filling and something hearty to get your day started. It was the perfect meal for me before a busy Saturday.

On the side? A scoop of creamy macaroni salad, just like you’d find in a Hawaiian kitchen. The Island Chicken Breast is another favorite, grilled and finished with a sweet teriyaki glaze that pairs perfectly with rice and eggs. Feeling adventurous?

Try the Fried Spam or Portuguese sausage—two beloved Hawaiian staples that bring salty, savory flavor to the plate. Las Vegas is often called the “Ninth Island” because of its strong Hawaiian ties, and Peg’s brings that connection to life with food that feels like home. That sense of community extends beyond flavor—it also shows up in how they treat their youngest guests.

Pancakes and Crayons—Peg’s Has It Covered

Peg’s doesn’t just serve families—it celebrates them. Kids are given crayons and coloring pages the moment they sit down, turning breakfast into an experience. Their colorful artwork is proudly displayed at the hostess stand, creating a cheerful wall of creativity that feels like part of the decor.

The kid’s menu is made for little appetites and big smiles. There’s the Mickey pancake for a playful start to the day, or silver dollar pancakes with one egg and your choice of bacon or sausage.

For something more filling, kids can try French toast with sausage, or a mini version of Peg’s island plates with spam, eggs, rice, and macaroni salad.

It’s food that keeps kids happy while giving parents a moment to sip their coffee and relax. And once everyone’s full, there’s still one more reason to keep Peg’s on your go-to list.
