Some restaurants are perfect for sitting down and taking your time. Others are exactly what you want when the workday is busy and everyone needs a satisfying lunch without sacrificing quality. Zen Curry House, located in Seoul Plaza just west of Chinatown, falls into that second category.

The Everyday.Vegas team recently stopped by to grab lunch to-go before heading back to work, and Zen Curry House once again proved why it has remained a Las Vegas favorite since opening this location in 2012. Fast service, generous portions, and highly customizable Japanese curry make it an easy recommendation whether you’re dining in or ordering takeout.

Japanese Curry Built Exactly the Way You Want It

Ordering at Zen Curry House is one of the best parts of the experience because every meal is built around your preferences.

Start With Your Curry

The process begins by choosing your portion size. Guests can select from Small, Regular, or Large curry plates depending on how hungry they are.

Next comes your rice selection. White rice is the traditional choice, but you can also substitute Brown Rice or 16-Grain Rice for something a little different.

Choose Your Heat Level

After selecting your base, you’ll pick your spice level. Curry ranges from mild for those who simply want the rich Japanese curry flavor all the way up to extremely spicy options for heat lovers.

Zen Curry House lets guests customize nearly every part of their meal, including portion size, rice, spice level, protein, and additional toppings.

For our order, I went with a Level 7, Motty matched me with another Level 7, while Ronnie kept things more comfortable with a Level 3.

Finish With Your Protein & Toppings

Finally, you choose what goes into your curry. Chicken Katsu and Pork Katsu are the classics, but there are dozens of ways to customize your plate.

The menu includes proteins and additions like Chicken Katsu, Pork Katsu, Croquette, Hamburger Steak, Beef, Deep Fried Shrimp, Chicken Tender, Pork Tenderloin, Kurobuta Sausage, Tofu Katsu, and more. Additional toppings include cheese, fried egg, scrambled egg, corn, vegetables, spinach, almonds, raisins, and sweet honey, allowing nearly endless combinations.

Our Lunch Order

The Everyday.Vegas crew kept things simple with what Zen Curry House is best known for.

Everyone ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry, featuring crispy breaded chicken sliced over steamed rice and covered in the restaurant’s signature Japanese curry. Each order arrived packaged neatly for takeout and was still piping hot by the time we got back to the office.

The chicken itself was crispy on the outside while remaining juicy inside. The curry was thick, smooth, and packed with savory flavor without becoming overly heavy. Even at Level 7, the spice never overwhelmed the curry itself, allowing the rich blend of spices to come through.

Portion sizes were generous enough to make for a filling lunch, especially considering how reasonably priced the meals are.

A Shared Order of Takoyaki

No Japanese comfort food meal feels complete without an appetizer, so we added an order of Takoyaki for the table.

Takoyaki topped with savory sauce, Japanese mayo, bonito flakes, and aonori makes the perfect starter.

The crispy octopus balls arrived topped with Japanese mayo, savory sauce, bonito flakes, and seasoning. They were soft inside, lightly crisp outside, and disappeared quickly as everyone grabbed one before digging into their curry.

There’s Plenty More to Explore

Even though curry is the star, Zen Curry House offers far more than a single style of meal.

The appetizer menu includes favorites like Karaage, Fried Gyoza, Fried Shumai, Deep Fried Oysters, Curry Pan, Edamame, Tofu Salad, Green Salad, and Miso Soup. Guests looking for something beyond curry can also order dishes like Curry Udon, Katsu-Don, Chicken Teriyaki Bowl, and other Japanese comfort food classics.

Because every curry can be customized with different proteins, toppings, spice levels, and rice options, it’s easy to come back multiple times without ordering the same meal twice.

Fast Service Makes It Ideal for Lunch

One thing that continues to stand out about Zen Curry House is how efficiently everything runs. Whether customers are dining inside or picking up takeout, orders move quickly without sacrificing quality.
