A Scenic Ride to Mountain Springs Saloon

Signed dollar bills all over the walls of mountain springs saloon

Mountain Springs Saloon is one of those places close enough to Las Vegas, yet it feels like a world apart. Hidden along Route 160 between Las Vegas and Pahrump, it’s a perfect day trip escape for anyone wanting a break from the city.

If you take the scenic route through Red Rock Canyon, you’re in for a breathtaking journey – winding roads, towering red cliffs, and a touch of desert magic. Something about that drive sets the mood for adventure, and Mountain Springs Saloon is the reward waiting at the end of it.

A Well-Known Hidden Spot for Bikers and Travelers

The saloon itself is iconic, especially among bikers and travelers. You’ll find it tucked away at the side of the road, a spot that seems to have slipped under the radar for many Vegas locals. But for those in the know, Mountain Springs is legendary.

You’ll first notice that the dollar bills cover almost every inch of the place. Travelers from all over have left their mark, stapling their signed bills to the walls and ceiling – a tradition that’s made the bar a sort of living scrapbook, chronicling countless visits from wandering souls.

The History Behind Mountain Springs Saloon

The Mountain Springs Saloon’s history goes back decades. Originally a stagecoach stop, it has evolved into the ruggedly charming bar we see today. It’s known for its laid-back vibe, love of live music, and cantina out back. Depending on the season, you might find the band rocking inside the cozy bar or sitting outside under the desert sky.

Live Music and Delicious Bar Food

Mountain Springs Saloon offers gaming, cold drinks, and live music, which makes you want to kick back and stay a while. Outside the bar, a cantina serves all the classic bar foods: tacos, fries, burgers, and more. It’s a great spot to grab a bite while enjoying the lively atmosphere. The combination of bar food, good music, and a welcoming crowd makes this place a perfect pit stop.

A Personal Experience at Mountain Springs

During our last visit, I remember the sun starting to set just as we pulled up. Magic happens when the desert sky turns pink and orange, and the band starts warming up for an evening set inside the cozy bar.

I grabbed a cold beer, found a seat inside, and just took it all in – the music, the laughter, the clinking of bottles. A couple of bikers were chatting nearby, sharing stories from the road, while a group at the next table was enjoying some of those famous tacos from the cantina.

It felt like a moment out of time, an evening that made me forget about the city’s hustle just fifteen minutes away.

Close to More Adventure

Mountain Springs Saloon is also conveniently located just a five-minute drive from Lovell Canyon, making it an ideal spot to visit before or after hiking or exploring. Whether on a motorcycle or just taking a leisurely drive, it’s the kind of place that keeps calling you back.
