Las Vegas Voice & Piano Paves The Way For Future Grammy Artists

Michael Pistiner and Marta Menendez from Las Vegas Voice & Piano

Every remarkable performer starts somewhere small—with a teacher, a song, and a spark of curiosity. For decades, Las Vegas Voice & Piano has helped students turn early interest into lifelong talent through patient teaching and community-focused instruction.

The Beat Behind Las Vegas Voice & Piano

Las Vegas Voice & Piano was founded by musicians Marta Menendez and Michael Pistiner with a clear purpose: to give musicians a strong, creative foundation. For over 30 years, it’s offered expert voice and piano instruction to students of every age and background.

Every lesson is designed to build technical skill while encouraging performance confidence. The school believes that teaching the right habits early on sets students up for long-term success. Whether students are beginners or advanced performers, the focus stays on thoughtful, one-on-one instruction.

That patient, personalized approach is what makes the school feel less like a classroom and more like a second home. These values extend far beyond the studio walls into the greater Las Vegas community.

Bringing Music to Every Corner of the City

Las Vegas Voice & Piano is committed to making music accessible to all, not just those who walk through their doors. One of their standout efforts involved a partnership with “Classroom on Wheels,” a nonprofit that turns school buses into mobile classrooms.

These mobile classrooms were taken to underrepresented neighborhoods to offer music lessons and vocal training. It gave people of all ages a hands-on introduction to singing and performance. They also worked with Opportunity Village to create a choral group for individuals with disabilities.

These programs gave students a space to be heard, celebrated, and connected to others through music.

These outreach efforts continue to grow, helping the school reach people who may never have had access to music instruction before. That same spirit of impact continues in the lives of the students who train with Marta and Michael.

Real Students. Real Success. Real Growth.

The school’s impact isn’t measured in fame, but in the journeys of the students who come through its doors. One young soprano who trained with Michael won Nevada’s prestigious Solo Ensemble Competition while still in high school. Her win led to a scholarship at UNLV, where she now studies with Michael’s former professor.

Another student, Lena, has been taking piano lessons with Marta since she was six. Her progress and discipline helped her gain admission to the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts. Other students have gone on to receive vocal performance scholarships, while many simply perform in senior communities to share the joy of music.

These outcomes reflect the patient and meaningful work that happens daily at Las Vegas Voice & Piano. At the heart of that impact are the two instructors who make it all possible.

Marta Menendez: Passion, Precision, and Purpose

Born in Havana, Cuba, Marta Menendez started studying piano at age seven and quickly earned national recognition. By age ten, she had already won the Amadeo Roldan National Piano Competition.

After relocating to the U.S., Marta continued her musical journey by winning the Reno Chamber Orchestra Competition. She’s now a regular performer at the Bellagio Hotel, enchanting guests with everything from classical pieces to Latin favorites.

Her education spans both the Havana City Music Conservatory and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she graduated with a master’s degree with honors. Marta has over 25 years of teaching experience and a deep love for classical music.

Her goal is simple: help each student become the best musician they can be. Marta’s dedication to the craft ensures every lesson is a step forward, both musically and personally. She shares this philosophy with her longtime teaching partner, Michael Pistiner.

Michael Pistiner: A Performer Who Gives Back

Michael Pistiner’s musical roots began in New York, where he studied piano and played in the New York Children’s Orchestra. His early musical development has even been showcased at the legendary Carnegie Hall. His passion took him to the prestigious Mannes College of Music and eventually brought him to Las Vegas.

After finishing his master’s degree at UNLV, he built a successful performance and recording career. Michael has played at venues like the Bellagio, the Mirage, and the Plaza Hotel in New York. He sings in six languages and has written songs with Grammy-winning artists.

Despite this success, his true calling lies in teaching. He works with students of all ages, helping them master piano or develop their singing voice with care and enthusiasm.

Michael’s deep respect for music shows in every lesson he teaches. Together, he and Marta make a team that not only teaches but inspires. That shared vision now leads them toward something bigger.

Looking Ahead: A School for All Performing Arts

Las Vegas Voice & Piano has long been a trusted place for music education. Now, the school is setting its sights on something even greater. Marta and Michael hope to partner with like-minded artists to create a full performing arts school.

Their dream is to unite piano, singing, acting, and theater under one roof. A place where students can explore multiple art forms and grow in every direction. By combining their experience with new voices and creative disciplines, they aim to build a school that reflects the future of the arts in Las Vegas.

It’s not about creating stars—it’s about creating opportunities, confidence, and community outreach. And in that spirit, the next chapter of Las Vegas Voice & Piano is just beginning.
