After a long day of riding and exploring Boulder City, we needed a break — and to our surprise, we found the perfect spot to get one.
We had passed by Fox Smokehouse BBQ a few times before, always saying, “Yeah, maybe next time.” BBQ can be heavy, and we didn’t want to cut the day short.
This time, we stopped — and now, I can confidently say it’s one of my favorite barbecue spots in the area. So what if it’s heavy? It’s absolutely worth it.
If you’re counting calories, you might be better off grabbing a light brunch at The Patio at Chilly Jilly’z or breakfast at The Coffee Cup Café down the street.
But if you’re in the mood for authentic BBQ, this place deserves a top spot on your next Boulder City adventure.
The Setting
The first thing that hits you — even before you walk in — is the smell of the smokers. It reminded me of John Mull’s Road Kill Grill, only this time with an indoor setting and air conditioning.
Once you step inside, the smokehouse splits into two distinct sections: to the left, a casual bar area with open seating, TVs playing sports, and a fully stocked bar; to the right, a main dining room more suited for families and large groups.
We opted for the bar side, thinking we’d grab a quick bite and be on our way. Spoiler alert: that plan didn’t last long.
What We Ordered
We kicked things off with a couple of Golden Road Mango Carts.
Somewhere between a light beer and a fruity refresher, it became a conversation piece of its own.
Our waitress jumped in to settle the debate — “It’s a beer,” she said with a smile. Either way, it hit the spot.

Smoked Wings
For starters, we ordered a few Smoked Wings.
On Sundays, they run a 99¢ wing special, so I figured I’d grab four with a Garlic Parmesan rub. Holy cow — or chicken!
These wings were outstanding. Smoky, juicy, and coated in flavor that makes you pause mid-conversation.
I honestly wish I’d known sooner; I might’ve made those wings my entire meal.

Baby Back Ribs
For my main course, I went with Half a Rack of Baby Back Ribs, served with fried okra and fries.
This meal isn’t for the faint of heart — or anyone tracking calories — but every bite reminded me why barbecue deserves its own food group.
The ribs were tender and flavorful, the okra crispy, and the fries perfectly golden.

The Brisket Sandwich
Yahor went with the Brisket Sandwich — Certified Angus Beef cooked low and slow, seasoned with a Texas-style rub, then sliced and piled high on grilled Texas toast.
It came with coleslaw, onions, pickles, and pepperoncinis, creating the perfect balance of smoky, tangy, and sweet.
It’s the kind of sandwich that makes you stop halfway through and say, “I’m full… but I’m not stopping.”

About Fox Smokehouse BBQ
Fox Smokehouse BBQ isn’t just a local favorite — it’s earned national recognition.
The restaurant was named among Yelp’s Top 100 BBQ Spots for 2024 and listed in The 25 Best Places for BBQ in Nevada by EnjoyTravel.com.
Behind the success are Dan and Kelly Fox, a husband-and-wife team whose passion for barbecue began on the competition circuit.
Known as BBQ Junkie under the Kansas City Barbecue Society, their team has competed in countless BBQ competitions, bringing home trophies, ribbons, and prize money along the way.
That same passion now fuels their Boulder City joint. As they like to say, “We’ll do whatever it takes to make you fat and happy.” And after tasting their food, it’s easy to see they mean it.
BBQ, Bikes & Boulder City Charm
A few moments into the meal, we made an executive decision — stop eating before we passed out on the bikes.
Fox Smokehouse BBQ is the kind of place that sneaks up on you: one minute you’re walking in for a casual bite, and the next you’re lost in the smoky haze of perfect barbecue bliss.

The space itself feels unapologetically American — wood, guitars, flags, and signage everywhere — yet it’s all tastefully done.
The staff was friendly, the service was quick, and the energy was just right. It’s the kind of bar where you could watch Sunday football or catch up with friends over a platter of ribs.
So next time you’re cruising through Boulder City, give Fox Smokehouse BBQ a shot.
You might go in for a quick stop — but don’t be surprised if you roll out a regular.
