There are some places on Water Street that you spot once and never forget. Biscuits & Bourbon is one of them. Warm lights hang over the patio, the smell of smoked meat spills out of the kitchen, and the whole place feels like a Southern hideout tucked into downtown Henderson.
I went on a Friday date-night with Destony, the kind of night where the streets were calm and the weather made it easy to sit outside. Inside, the vibe hit immediately. Industrial lighting, wooden walls, metal chairs, and that classic bourbon-bar energy fill the room. You can hear clinking glasses from the bar, quiet conversations at the booths, and the low hum of a kitchen that always seems busy in the best way.
Southern comfort right on Water Street
Water Street has been changing fast. New restaurants, local breweries, and that classic downtown charm mixing together. Biscuits and Bourbon fit right into that flow. It has the feel of a place that has been here longer than it has. Rustic, casual, and full of personality, the kind of restaurant where you walk in and already know you’ll be staying awhile.
The inside is lined with mixed woods, chalkboards showing the biscuit flavors of the day, and lights that make the whole room feel warm but never dim. It is part diner, part smokehouse, part whiskey bar. You can come for breakfast, for dinner, or just for drinks, and it works every time.
First impressions
What stood out first was how relaxed the pacing is. People were laughing, lingering over drinks, finishing plates without rushing. The staff moved around with that calm confidence that tells you they know the menu is solid. And the smell coming from the smoker made it impossible not to be hungry.

On the wall, a big chalkboard breaks down biscuit options. Classic buttermilk. Cinnamon butter. Blueberry bourbon jam. Clover honey. It sets the tone for the rest of the experience. Fun, warm, and full of big flavors.
Starting with the biscuits
We kicked things off with their three-biscuit bundle. These biscuits are bigger than they look on the menu. Golden on the outside, soft on the inside, and served warm. They came with a sweet jam and creamy butter, both of which matched perfectly with the texture.
They were the type of biscuits that crumble lightly when you pull them apart. Just enough density to feel hearty without being heavy. Destony grabbed one, took a bite, and just nodded. No words needed. They really are that good.
Plates worth the stop
Biscuits & Bourbon has a menu that mixes comfort with smoke. Some items lean toward classic Southern dishes, while others feel like creative riffs you wouldn’t expect. Everything seems built to give you a little richness and a lot of flavor.
Before getting into the specific plates, it is worth saying this. The food here feels intentional. Not rushed. Not thrown together. Each dish has a little twist that makes it stand out, and that is exactly what makes coming here fun.
Loaded Mac & Cheese
This was my order. A bowl of three cheese mac topped with pulled pork, pickled onions, and bacon. The mac itself was creamy and rich, with just enough sharpness from the cheese blend to keep it from feeling too heavy. The pulled pork brought smoke and tenderness, while the bacon added that salty, crispy contrast. The pickled onions gave each bite brightness, cutting through everything else in the best way.

It is a comfort dish that feels complete on its own. Rich, smoky, and layered with flavor. If you like mac and cheese with a little character, this one hits perfectly.
Tri Tip Steak
Destony went with the tri tip from the smoker. Thick slices with a visible smoke ring, cooked just right so it stayed tender once you bite in. It came with a loaded baked potato that was overflowing with sour cream, green onions, and everything you want on a potato at a place like this.

The tri tip had a gentle smoky taste that let the meat stand out instead of being covered by sauces. The seasoning was simple and balanced. Together with the potato, it made a complete, hearty plate that felt like a Southern barbecue dinner without needing a whole sampler platter.
Something to sip on
Biscuits & Bourbon takes its drinks seriously. Bourbon is obviously part of the identity here, but the menu goes beyond that. Craft beers. House cocktails. Drinks with deep color and bright flavors. It is the kind of bar where you can order something familiar or try something totally new.

Atomic Duck IPA
I went with an Atomic Duck IPA. A clean, crisp, citrus-driven beer with enough hop to make it refreshing. It worked great with the richness of the mac and cheese, cutting through the cheese and pulled pork without overpowering anything. It is a solid pick if you like IPAs that stay bright instead of heavy.
Pomegranate Gin Fizz
Destony ordered the Pomegranate Gin Fizz. Easily one of the most eye-catching cocktails on the menu. Bright red with a foamy top and a deep, fruity aroma. The flavor was light and refreshing, slightly sweet with a tart edge that paired well with the tri tip. It felt like a perfect match for a dinner that leaned smoky and savory.
The atmosphere that brings you back
By the time we were halfway through our plates, the restaurant was filling up even more. People walking in with families. Groups of friends grabbing drinks. Couples settling into booths. There is something welcoming about this space. It feels like a spot where everyone fits without trying to be anything other than what it is.
The wooden walls, the warm lighting, the chalkboard menus, the visible bar shelves, the smell of biscuits and smoked meat. Everything ties together. There is a rhythm to how people move around here. Slow enough to feel relaxed, busy enough to feel alive.
Water Street at night is already full of character, but Biscuits & Bourbon adds a layer to that. It is part of the growing food scene and still feels local in the best way. A place that stays true to its identity while fitting perfectly into a neighborhood that is becoming one of the best hangout spots in Henderson.
A place made for comfort
If you like comfort food, this place is already a win. If you like smoky meats, it is even better. Add biscuits, bourbon, and a bar atmosphere that feels warm without being crowded, and you have a restaurant that checks every box.

Whether you are stopping in for dinner, grabbing a drink, ordering a biscuit bundle on the side, or just enjoying the vibe, Biscuits & Bourbon delivers exactly what the name promises. Good food, good drinks, and that comforting Southern touch that makes a casual night out feel a little more memorable.
The kind of spot that sticks with you
When we left, the patio lights were glowing, the sign on the wall stood out in the dark, and more people were still rolling in. It is the kind of place where time moves a little slower, where the food feels familiar even when it is your first time trying it.
Biscuits & Bourbon fits Water Street perfectly. And after one visit, it is easy to see why people keep coming back.
If you want comfort, smoke, flavor, and a little bourbon mixed in, this spot deserves a place at the top of your list.
