The Stray Pirate: A Pirate-Themed Bar Locals Love

Drinks at the Stray Pirate

Spectacle is the standard for Vegas experiences across the valley, and this pirate ship–tiki bar combo is no exception.

Located just outside the Arts District, The Stray Pirate feels like a hidden escape. The space may be small, but it’s packed with personality, pulling you into its sunken-ship setting the moment you step inside.

From the dim lighting to the carefully placed nautical details, the atmosphere immediately sets the tone. The Stray Pirate is immersive without being overwhelming, offering a cozy, transportive environment that feels intentionally designed rather than staged.

We chose to gather here with coworkers because we were looking for something easygoing and low-pressure—a place where conversation could flow naturally and no one felt rushed. It was less about a night out and more about spending quality time together.

At the same time, we wanted an experience that felt different from the usual happy hour spots.

The Stray Pirate checked all the boxes, offering us a new place to explore that still feels comfortable and welcoming. It’s the kind of setting that encourages you to settle in, look around, and let the night unfold at its own pace.

Ahoy Maties, Drinks Aboard!

A glance at the menu shows a thoughtfully curated lineup of cocktails, martinis, and spirits. There’s a clear balance between playful tiki-style drinks and more classic options, making it approachable whether you’re adventurous or know exactly what you like.

I was immediately drawn to the Swig and Berries, and after the bartender’s recommendation, the decision felt like a no-brainer. Learning that a portion of each Swig and Berries purchase supports the Nevada SPCA Foundation made the order feel even better.

As we went around the table, everyone found something that fit their taste. One coworker, who prefers bright and citrus-forward gin cocktails, was steered toward the Saturn. Another wanted something sweeter with a bit more punch and landed on Tito’s Toad Venom.

The menu also accommodates guests who aren’t drinking alcohol. Beyond the standard non-alcoholic options, The Stray Pirate offers specialty mocktails crafted with just as much care. Our final coworker chose the Pain-Thriller, a tropical-style mocktail that felt intentional and well-balanced rather than like an afterthought.

This Scurvy Tale Unravels Itself

While we waited for our drinks, the space itself became the focus. The bar’s design encourages exploration, with pirate-themed elements layered throughout the room. It’s the kind of place where you keep noticing new details the longer you sit.

Every corner feels deliberate. From the decor to the glassware, everything works together to create a cohesive experience. It sparks curiosity without needing explanation, letting guests interpret the story for themselves as they take it all in.

Even the bathroom continues the theme. With black fixtures and portraits lining the walls, it feels like an extension of the bar rather than a separate space. It’s a small detail, but one that reinforces The Stray Pirate’s commitment to its overall atmosphere.

The result is a setting where the environment does just as much storytelling as the menu, making the experience feel immersive without ever trying too hard.

A Pirate’s Life for Me, Cheers!

Our drinks arrived alongside an order of Kibble—mango habanero–seasoned crackers that were easy to snack on while chatting and sipping.

The Swig and Berries was smooth and approachable, making it an easy choice for a relaxed evening. Tito’s Toad Venom leaned bolder, with richer flavors and a stronger presence. The Saturn stood out for its playful presentation and bright, citrus-forward taste.

The Pain-Thriller rounded things out nicely as a non-alcoholic option. With tropical notes and a familiar cocktail-like feel, it offered a solid alternative for anyone skipping alcohol without missing out on the experience.

Memories Aboard

As the evening went on, the pace stayed unhurried. We spent our time laughing, catching up, and enjoying the atmosphere without feeling like we needed to move on to the next stop.

The Stray Pirate delivers a well-rounded experience, making it a standout tiki bar whether you’re visiting with friends, coworkers, or weaving it into a night of bar-hopping. Its immersive design, approachable menu, and comfortable vibe make it easy to recommend.
