1 October Memorial Blood Drive

The 1 October Memorial Blood Drive returns to City National Arena in Summerlin on Thursday, October 1st, 2026, giving Southern Nevada residents an opportunity to donate blood while remembering those affected by the October 1, 2017 shooting. The annual community blood drive runs from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and is organized by Vitalant with the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation.

Nine years after the tragedy, the blood drive continues the spirit of Vegas Strong by focusing on an immediate way locals can help patients throughout the community. Blood donated before and after the October 1 shooting played an important role in treating injured patients, and the memorial drive recognizes the donors who stepped forward while encouraging another generation of Southern Nevadans to give.

Remembering October 1 Through Blood Donation

The event is centered on community service and remembrance. Rather than a traditional memorial gathering, participants can honor the day by contributing to the local blood supply and helping ensure blood is available when hospitals and patients need it.

Vitalant shares the story of Natalie, who was injured during the October 1 shooting and required multiple blood transfusions to survive. Her experience is one example of why having donated blood available before an emergency occurs can be critical for trauma patients and others requiring transfusions.

The 2026 drive is being held in partnership with the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation, continuing the event’s connection to the Las Vegas community. Donors will give blood aboard Vitalant bloodmobiles stationed near City National Arena.

The donation site will be set up in the City National Arena parking area at 1550 S. Pavilion Center Drive. City National Arena is the official practice facility of the Vegas Golden Knights and is located next to Downtown Summerlin and Las Vegas Ballpark.

Anyone planning to donate should pay close attention to the parking instructions. Donors must park in the Las Vegas Ballpark parking lot and follow the posted signs to the lot east of City National Arena. The Vitalant bloodmobiles will be located north of City National Arena.
