The Desert Winds: 18th Annual Veterans Day Concert takes place at Congregation Ner Tamid in Henderson on November 9th, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. The annual concert brings The Desert Winds together with veterans, families and community members for an evening of live concert band music honoring those who have served in the U.S. military.
The performance also opens The Desert Winds’ 18th season. Artistic Director and conductor Dr. Charles A. Maguire returns to the podium, joined by guest conductor Dani McCracken for the Veterans Day program.
A Veterans Day Salute Through Live Music
The concert is built around remembrance, gratitude and community. The Desert Winds is a professional wind ensemble featuring woodwind, brass and percussion musicians, giving the program the range and scale of a full concert band rather than a small chamber performance.
The Veterans Day concert has become an annual tradition for the ensemble, with Congregation Ner Tamid again serving as the Henderson venue. The evening is intended for veterans as well as family members, friends and local residents who want to recognize military service through live music.
The Desert Winds
The Desert Winds was founded in 2009 and is the flagship ensemble of the Making Music Matter Foundation. The Henderson-based nonprofit also supports chamber performances, Honor Winds student ensembles and music education programs for middle and high school musicians.
Dr. Charles A. Maguire serves as the ensemble’s Artistic Director. For this concert, Maguire will share conducting duties with guest conductor Dani McCracken.
