This past weekend, we found ourselves craving Thai food.
Our first instinct was to head toward Nittaya’s Secret Kitchen—always a favorite—but my wife reminded me that we hadn’t yet tried Chef Nittaya’s newer concept, Block 9 Thai Street Eats.
A quick U-turn and a couple of miles later, we found ourselves standing in front of a restaurant that instantly felt different.
It was casual yet vibrant, modern yet rooted in tradition. What unfolded was one of the most memorable Thai dining experiences we’ve had in a long time.

From Secret Kitchen to Street Eats
Block 9 isn’t simply a “spin-off” of Nittaya’s Secret Kitchen—it’s an entirely new expression of Chef Nittaya Parawong’s culinary journey.
Where Secret Kitchen leans toward refined, family-style dining, Block 9 embraces the hustle and heart of Bangkok’s streets.
Inspired by pushcart vendors and the neighborhood blocks that defined her childhood in Thailand, Chef Nittaya created Block 9 to showcase food that is quick, approachable, and flavor-forward, without sacrificing authenticity.

The name itself has a story. In Bangkok, people know which street vendor to visit by the block—Pad Thai on one corner, curry on another. Block 9 is her homage to that culture: a place that celebrates everyday food elevated by passion and technique. Whether you dine in or grab something to-go, it feels like a portal into another world.
Ambiance That Sets the Stage
Walking into Block 9 is half the fun. The walls are alive with murals—bright tuk-tuks, bursts of color, and Thai license plates arranged like art.
Next to it all is Chef Nittaya’s own mural, smiling as if to welcome every guest personally. It’s an atmosphere that manages to be both playful and transportive.
Instead of fine linens and candlelight, you’re surrounded by the heartbeat of Bangkok’s street culture, recreated in a Summerlin neighborhood strip mall.

It seems like the new style of restaurant theme is moving back to origins, and walking into Block 9 reminded me a lot of The Taco Stand on Spring Mountain. It’s not the fancy that draws you in—it’s the heritage and the feel that you get from the place.
It’s a smart contrast to Secret Kitchen, reminding diners that Thai food doesn’t need polish to shine.
Here, the energy is casual and fun, yet it never feels rushed or careless. Families settle into tables with kids sharing noodles, couples linger over curries, and the occasional solo diner grabs a quick plate on the way home.
It’s versatile, and that’s the point.
Food That Wakes Up the Palate
Wonton Chicken
We started with Chicken Fried Wonton, a quick bite we’ve come to expect at Thai restaurants, but one that Block 9 just made better. The wontons were crisp and golden, with a filling that was savory yet delicate.

Paired with a dipping sauce that balanced sweet, salty, and spicy, it set the tone for the meal. It wasn’t heavy—it was the kind of bite that makes you hungry for more.
Chicken Pad Thai
Pad Thai is the litmus test for any Thai restaurant, and Block 9 passed with flying colors. The Chicken Pad Thai came together beautifully—tamarind giving it tang, crushed peanuts adding texture, and fresh lime brightening the flavors.
The noodles were perfectly cooked, neither too soft nor too chewy. It was comfort food with layers that bring the essence of Thai street food, satisfying without being overwhelming.

Panang Curry with Chicken
Then came the Panang Curry with Chicken, and this dish was unforgettable. The curry was creamy, infused with coconut milk, and fragrant with lemongrass and spices.
It had a slow-building warmth that coated the palate without overpowering it. Served with tender chicken and jasmine rice, it struck the perfect balance between comfort and complexity.

Flavors That Linger
What sets Block 9 apart is how the flavors stay with you—not in a heavy, greasy way, but in a way that makes you want to return the next day.
Each dish feels crafted with intention, with respect for traditional Thai cooking but adapted for the pace of Las Vegas life.
Quick service doesn’t mean shortcuts here; it means efficiency backed by experience.

Expanding Beyond Summerlin
The success of Block 9 has already led to growth. Recently, Chef Nittaya expanded with a second location on St. Rose Parkway in Henderson.
For Henderson locals, this is big news—it means they no longer need to trek across town to enjoy her street-style creations. The new spot carries the same vibrant energy and authentic menu, proving that Block 9 isn’t just a one-time concept but a brand with staying power.
The Henderson location offers a fresh dining option that balances affordability with authenticity. It’s casual enough for a quick weekday dinner but flavorful enough to compete with the city’s more celebrated Thai restaurants.
In many ways, the expansion solidifies Block 9 as more than a hidden gem—it’s now a cornerstone of the Vegas Thai food scene.

Fast, Fresh, and Unforgettable
By the time we left, we felt like we had experienced more than just a meal. Block 9 Thai Street Eats reminded us why we fell in love with Thai food in the first place: the balance of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy, combined with the joy of sharing food that feels both comforting and adventurous.

If you’re looking for a polished dinner with white tablecloths, you’ll still find that magic at Nittaya’s Secret Kitchen. But if you want something quick, bold, and full of life, Block 9 delivers in spades. And now, with the new Henderson location, there are even more reasons to put it on your list.
Las Vegas has no shortage of Thai restaurants, but Block 9 stands out by bridging the gap between authenticity and accessibility.
It’s street food reimagined for a modern city, and it’s proof that sometimes, the best meals don’t come from fine dining—they come from the heart.
