This past Thursday, right after a meeting, we had that familiar craving—breakfast for lunch. Well, I did. David felt like lunch. 🙂 And since we were already around the block, it only made sense to lean into the moment and head to a local, family-owned spot that does the classics the right way.
Enter The Blue Skillet Family Restaurant—a casual diner-style place sitting right between two of our favorites: What’s Zaap? Thai and Milpa. The kind of neighborhood location that makes you feel like you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.
We walked in and were greeted with a genuine smile that instantly lifted the day. We were seated in a booth, and coffee showed up almost immediately—which sounds simple, but you can feel the difference when it’s a family-owned restaurant and not a chain running on autopilot.

A Family-Owned Diner With Two Vegas Locations
The Blue Skillet keeps things straightforward—in the best way. It looks and feels like a casual diner: booths, a relaxed pace, and a menu that doesn’t try to reinvent breakfast. No gimmicks, no “concept,” no dancing waiters. Just a spot that understands what you came for.
And if you’re wondering where to find it, The Blue Skillet has two locations: one on the southwest side of town, and one deep on the east side—like “how east are we talking?” east… Nellis and Bonanza east.

The Menu: All the Breakfast Staples (Plus a Little Lunch)
The menu is packed with the hits—eggs, bacon, waffles, pancakes… you name it, they’ve got it. There’s also a smaller section that leans into lunch with sandwiches and burgers, which is perfect when one person wants breakfast and the other insists it’s “clearly lunch time.”

While we were chatting with our waitress, we found out they’re planning to expand their hours—likely on weekends—starting March 2026. If that happens, it’ll make this place even more of a go-to when mornings turn into late mornings.
What We Ordered
THE DEALER SPECIAL
I ordered something that might sound unusual at first, but I had to try it: a crepe special called The Dealer Special.
Three large eggs cooked to order, plus your choice of four bacon or four sausage (or a ham steak), served with hash browns or chunky potatoes, and toast.
I went with bacon—because honestly, I don’t think I need to explain myself there. 🙂
But here’s where it gets fun: I paired it with two strawberry and cream cheese crepes. Yes, I know. And yes, it works. In a weirdly perfect way, you can eat it together or treat the crepes like dessert after the savory plate—and both sides were done right.
Sunny-side-up eggs, crispy bacon, and sweet hot crepes all in one sitting… when you’re in Vegas, why not?

THE PATTY MELT
David went the lunch route and ordered the Patty Melt—a classic burger topped with sautéed onions and melted American cheese, served on grilled rye bread, with a side of curly fries.
Honestly, next time I might steal that order. No regrets though—I enjoyed every bite of what I picked, and the patty melt looked like the kind of comfort-food move that never misses.

Why The Blue Skillet Works
The Blue Skillet is one of those places you go when you want no-fuss breakfast—the kind that feels familiar even if it’s your first time. It actually reminded me a lot of Jamms Restaurant (which I visited not too long ago): classic diner energy, friendly service, locals who clearly love the place, and a vibe you just can’t fake.

If you’re looking for a straight-up breakfast that hits all the right notes, stop by The Blue Skillet. You might walk in as a first-timer… and walk out thinking, “Yeah, I could be a regular here.”
