Elf: The Musical brings Buddy the Elf and his holiday adventure to Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center from November 24th through November 29th, 2026. Inspired by the hit film, the touring Broadway production follows Buddy as he leaves the North Pole for New York City to find his birth father and help everyone around him rediscover the Christmas spirit.
Based on the acclaimed Broadway staging, the production combines large-scale musical numbers, comedy, holiday scenery, and familiar characters from Buddy’s journey. Performances take place throughout Thanksgiving week, with both afternoon and evening showtimes available on selected dates.
Buddy the Elf Comes to Reynolds Hall
The story begins when Buddy, an orphan accidentally transported to the North Pole as a baby, learns he is actually human. He heads to New York City to find his father and quickly discovers that navigating the human world is very different from life with Santa’s elves.
The stage version turns the holiday story into a full Broadway musical with singing, dancing, comedy, and elaborate winter production numbers. The show runs about 130 minutes, plus one 20-minute intermission, making the full theater visit about two and a half hours.
A Holiday Show for Families
Elf: The Musical is recommended for ages 6 and older. The Smith Center allows children age 5 and older to attend ticketed performances, and every guest must have their own ticket regardless of age.
Parents should also know that the production currently includes haze, fog, strobe lighting, and snow effects. Those effects may be important to consider for younger guests or anyone sensitive to lighting and atmospheric effects.
Sensory Inclusive Performance
The Smith Center will offer a sensory inclusive performance on November 25th at 2:00 PM. These performances are modified to make live theater more comfortable and accessible for audience members with sensory sensitivities.
Sensory-inclusive programming can include adjustments to production elements, along with supportive staff, volunteers, and quiet spaces for guests who need a break during the performance.

The production does not perform at the same time every day. Evening performances begin at 7:30 PM, while selected Friday, Saturday, and Sunday dates also offer 2:00 PM matinees. No performance is listed for Thanksgiving Day.
