“Hook” in Concert comes to Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center on November 14th, 2026, pairing Steven Spielberg’s complete 1991 film with a live performance of John Williams’ score by the Las Vegas Philharmonic. The film begins at 7:30 PM as a 65-piece orchestra performs the soundtrack in sync with the movie on the big screen.
The performance marks the 35th anniversary of Hook, the Peter Pan adventure starring Robin Williams as an adult Peter Pan and Dustin Hoffman as Captain Hook. Instead of a traditional orchestra concert, audiences watch the entire film while hearing its orchestral score performed live inside Reynolds Hall.
Watch Hook With a Live 65-Piece Orchestra
The centerpiece of the evening is the Las Vegas Philharmonic performing John Williams’ complete film score live. The orchestra plays in synchronization with the movie, allowing audiences to hear the music performed in the theater while the original film plays above the stage.
Williams’ score moves between large orchestral action sequences, quieter character themes and the music associated with Neverland. The film also includes the Williams-penned songs “We Don’t Want to Grow Up” and “When You’re Alone,” the latter of which received an Academy Award nomination.
Steven Spielberg’s Hook on the Big Screen
Released in 1991, Hook reimagines the Peter Pan story with Robin Williams playing Peter Banning, an adult Peter Pan who has forgotten his childhood in Neverland. When Captain Hook kidnaps Peter’s children, he must return to Neverland and rediscover the identity he left behind.
Dustin Hoffman stars as Captain Hook, with Julia Roberts as Tinker Bell. The film received five Academy Award nominations and has remained a recognizable family adventure for generations of viewers.
The Smith Center notes that members of the original movie cast will not appear at this performance. The live component of the event is the orchestral performance accompanying the film.
How Long Is “Hook” in Concert?
The Smith Center lists the performance at approximately 140 minutes plus one 20-minute intermission. That makes the full theater experience approximately two hours and 40 minutes, although the exact running time is subject to change.
With the 7:30 PM start, guests should plan for the performance to finish at approximately 10:10 PM.
Family and Age Information
Children age 5 and older may attend performances at The Smith Center, and every attendee must have their own ticket. Guests age 16 and older may attend without an accompanying adult when they have permission from a parent or guardian.
The movie itself is shown in full, making this a good choice for families who already enjoy the film as well as audiences interested in John Williams’ music and live orchestral performances.
