Last week, my in-laws invited me to join them for a night of gaming — and hopefully a little luck — at Suncoast Casino in Summerlin.
You don’t say no to in-laws, so right after our editors’ meeting at Everyday.Vegas, I headed west.
For those who remember Suncoast as “that old casino” on the west side, it’s worth noting how much has changed.
The property has clearly reinvested in itself—upgraded rooms, refreshed restaurants, improved the movie theater and arcade, and introduced a more modern gaming floor.
It feels brighter, more family-friendly, and far more updated than many locals might remember.

After a few hours of slot machines, table games, and — lucky us — some small winnings, hunger kicked in.
We had tried Taste of Asia before, but with a group comes opinions, and we couldn’t quite agree on what kind of cuisine would satisfy everyone.
The solution? Something universal. Something dependable. Something diner-style. Du-par’s.
Du-par’s Restaurant and Bakery at Suncoast
Every casino seems to have its go-to diner spot, and lately, I had been hearing Du-par’s mentioned more than once.
As we walked past the entrance, it felt like the perfect compromise — a full menu with something for everyone.

Although Du-par’s is often known for breakfast, it’s truly a full-service classic American diner with an extensive menu that covers all the staples.
Pancakes, omelets, burgers, comfort food plates — the kind of place where no one leaves saying, “I couldn’t find anything I liked.”
The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a refrigerated display filled with house-made cakes and pies. It’s almost unfair. Before you even sit down, your sweet tooth is already wide awake and negotiating dessert.

We were seated in a booth — because let’s be honest, diner booths just feel right — and got straight to business.
What We Ordered at Du-par’s
We started with an appetizer to share, and then each leaned into completely different cravings — which is exactly why a diner works so well for groups.
Zucchini Reggiano Parmesan
Our starter was the Zucchini Reggiano Parmesan — crispy zucchini slices topped with reggiano parmesan cheese. I wasn’t sure if fried zucchini would land on my personal favorites list, but curiosity won.
The slices were crisp on the outside, tender inside, and served hot — a solid appetizer to pass around while we decided on our mains.

Garden Veggie Burger
One of us went the lighter route with the Garden Veggie Burger, stacked with lettuce, tomato, and house-made dressing (cheese optional). It was hearty, flavorful, and filling enough to stand on its own, proving that even at a traditional diner, vegetarians aren’t stuck with just a side salad.

Eggs Benedict
You can’t visit a diner known for breakfast and skip the classics. The Eggs Benedict came layered with Canadian bacon, perfectly poached eggs, rich hollandaise sauce, and a toasted English muffin.
The hollandaise was creamy without being overwhelming, and the eggs were cooked just right — that ideal balance between runny yolk and firm whites.

Fish & Chips
Then came the comfort favorite: Fish & Chips. Flaky battered cod, golden and crisp, paired with house-made coleslaw, fries, and fresh tartar sauce.
It’s the kind of dish you order when you want something satisfying, familiar, and generously portioned — and Du-par’s delivers on all three.

What I appreciated most about our table was how random the order looked — veggie burger next to Benedict next to fish and chips. But that’s the beauty of a true diner menu.
Everyone can order exactly what they’re craving, and it somehow all makes sense.
More Than Just a Breakfast Spot
While Du-par’s has built a reputation around breakfast — especially its pancakes and bakery case — it’s clearly more than just a morning stop.
The menu stretches comfortably from early breakfast through late-night comfort food, making it a reliable option no matter when hunger hits.
And let’s not forget the bakery. Those pies and cakes you see when you walk in? They’re not decoration — they’re fresh, house-made desserts ready to follow your meal.
Next time, I might skip the debate and just start with coffee and pie.

Suncoast has been making noticeable efforts to attract more families — bowling, arcade games, movie nights — and Du-par’s fits perfectly into that mix.
After a few rounds at the lanes or a film in the theater, you can easily wrap up the night with donuts, dessert, or a classic diner meal.
A Throwback Diner Feel in Modern Summerlin
There’s something comforting about a diner inside a casino. It has that throwback, no-frills energy — booths, big menus, comfort plates, and approachable pricing. Du-par’s captures that feeling without feeling outdated.
The service was friendly, the portions were generous, and the pricing felt reasonable for a casino setting. It’s approachable, familiar, and easy — exactly what you want after a long night of gaming or a spontaneous family outing.

Suncoast may not always be the first casino that comes to mind for locals, but between the upgrades and dependable spots like Du-par’s, it’s clearly working to stay relevant.
Next time you’re heading there for bowling, a movie, or to test your luck on the floor, consider stopping by Du-par’s.
Whether you’re craving Eggs Benedict, a burger, fish and chips, or just a slice of pie and a cup of coffee, it’s the kind of place that quietly solves the “Where should we eat?” debate.
And sometimes, that’s exactly what you need.
