Rise & Shine Las Vegas: Breakfast With a Playful Twist

Step into Rise & Shine and breakfast immediately feels a little less ordinary. This family-owned Las Vegas restaurant combines hearty morning favorites, colorful decor, and a playful personality that makes it especially easy to enjoy with family or friends.

Rise & Shine has been serving Las Vegas since 2010, and the West Flamingo location featured here remains one of two restaurants currently operating in the valley. Inside, farmhouse-inspired details, colorful hanging umbrellas, pajama-clad staff, and an open view toward the kitchen give the dining room its unmistakable character.

A Twist on Tradition at Rise & Shine

Rise & Shine describes itself as “a steak & egg place,” but the menu stretches much further than the name might suggest. The restaurant serves breakfast and brunch daily, with everything from ribeye steak and eggs to pancakes, French toast, omelets, chilaquiles, breakfast burritos, avocado toast, and specialty coffee drinks.

Rise & Shine currently operates two Las Vegas Valley locations: the West Flamingo restaurant featured in this story and another on Southern Highlands Parkway. The restaurant’s official site says both locations are open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The atmosphere was one of the first things that caught our attention. Bright umbrellas hang overhead while rustic textures and farmhouse-inspired touches keep the dining room casual rather than overly polished. The open kitchen adds another layer to the experience, letting guests catch glimpses of breakfast being prepared.

The pajama-style uniforms fit right into that personality. Nothing about the restaurant feels overly serious, which works particularly well for families and groups gathering for a relaxed breakfast.

There is even a selection of quirky merchandise, including graphic shirts and other playful items that carry the restaurant’s sense of humor beyond the dining room.

Outdoor Seating for a Las Vegas Morning

We stayed inside during our visit, but Rise & Shine also has patio dining. That gives guests another option during the milder Las Vegas mornings before the desert heat takes over.

A Breakfast Menu With Plenty of Personality

One of the strengths of Rise & Shine is simply the amount of choice. Steak and eggs may be the restaurant’s calling card, but sweet breakfasts, Mexican-inspired plates, omelets, bagel sandwiches, fresh fruit, juices, and coffee give almost everyone something to consider.

During our visit, we went in a sweeter direction with Red Velvet Pancakes and Silver Dollar Pancakes. If pancakes are usually your first choice, The Original Pancake House offers another classic Las Vegas breakfast experience centered heavily around them.

We also tried avocado toast alongside scrambled eggs, bacon, and fries. That mix of lighter and heavier breakfast choices is part of what makes the large menu useful when everyone at the table wants something different.

And then there was the coffee. Our hot vanilla lattes were rich, aromatic, and exactly what we wanted at the start of breakfast. The current menu continues to feature Lavazza coffee, espresso, cappuccino, and latte drinks alongside bottomless regular coffee.

Scrambled Eggs with Bacon and Fries

Sometimes breakfast does not need a complicated combination to work. Our scrambled eggs arrived light, fluffy, and flavorful, accompanied by crisp bacon and seasoned fries.

For another European-leaning morning option nearby, Café Breizh approaches breakfast from the direction of French pastries, crêpes, and café favorites.

Red Velvet Pancakes

The Red Velvet Pancakes were the attention-grabber at our table. Rich, soft, sweet, and unapologetically indulgent, they blur the line between breakfast and dessert.

The current menu lists them as Red Velvet Chocolate Chip Pancakes, made with white and milk chocolate chips and finished with cream cheese syrup. For another Las Vegas spot known for taking breakfast basics in unexpected directions, The Bagel Cafe has built its own longtime following around oversized deli and breakfast favorites.

Silver Dollar Pancakes with Strawberries and Bananas

The Silver Dollar Pancakes gave us something simpler. The smaller pancakes came with strawberries and bananas, which we requested on the side, making the plate easy to share and adjust to individual tastes.

They are also currently listed on the restaurant’s children’s and 55+ menu, with fruit available as an option. If fruit, crêpes, and sweeter breakfast combinations are more your style, The Real Crepe is another local morning stop worth exploring.

Cup-O-Bread

One of the more recognizable Rise & Shine sides is the Cup-O-Bread. It appears throughout the menu as an alternative alongside toast or biscuits, and it can also be ordered separately with cream cheese syrup.

Chilaquiles

The current menu offers several versions of chilaquiles. The standard Rise & Shine Chilaquiles combine ranchero chips, rojas sauce, refried beans, cheddar and cotija cheeses, and two eggs. Diners can also choose versions with ribeye steak, pork carnitas, or carne asada.

Rise & Shine also offers several substantial breakfast burritos. Current combinations include carne asada with eggs and avocado, pork carnitas with eggs and avocado, chicken with chorizo, steak with chorizo, and the restaurant’s namesake burrito with chorizo, scrambled eggs, hash browns, refried beans, and avocado.

A Family-Friendly Breakfast With Options

The restaurant works well when everyone at the table wants something different. Steak and eggs sit alongside pancakes, French toast, oatmeal, Benedicts, omelets, bagel sandwiches, avocado toast, smoothies, juices, and espresso drinks.

The official menu also identifies vegetarian selections and includes a gluten-free notation system. However, Rise & Shine specifically warns that its kitchen is shared and there is a risk of gluten exposure, so diners with celiac disease or significant sensitivities should discuss their needs directly with the restaurant.

Fresh-squeezed juices and coffee round out the breakfast menu. If the coffee side of breakfast matters as much as the food, Better Days Coffee offers another local option centered more heavily around specialty drinks.
