South Tower Park Is the Kind of Park That Makes Summerlin Parents Keep Coming Back

As a Vegas Mom, South Tower Park Is One of Our Favorite Family Spots

I am always looking for places where the kids can burn energy, cool off, and have fun without spending a fortune. Some days we want an indoor play place. Other days, we just need sunshine, fresh air, and a park that keeps everyone happy for a few hours.

That is exactly why South Tower Park has become one of our favorite family spots.

This park has a little bit of everything. There are separate playgrounds for younger and older kids, a huge splash pad right in the middle, plenty of open grass to run around, picnic areas, swings, restrooms, and lots of room for families to spread out.

The whole park feels open, safe, and easy to enjoy. It is one of those places where you arrive thinking you will stay for an hour, and suddenly it is lunchtime, and nobody wants to leave.

The Layout Makes Perfect Sense for Families

One of my favorite things about South Tower Park is how it is set up. The younger playground sits on one side. The older playground sits on the other side. Right in the middle is the splash pad. It is almost like the park was designed by parents who understand how kids actually play.

The park’s grassy spaces are ideal for family picnics, birthday parties, and outdoor activities.

Little ones can stay in their own space while bigger kids have room to climb and explore. Then everyone can meet in the middle to cool off in the water.

It makes the whole park feel organized and easy to manage, especially if you have kids of different ages.

The Splash Pad Is the Star of the Show

Let us be honest. During a Las Vegas summer, the splash pad is usually the reason we are there.

And South Tower Park does not disappoint.

The splash pad is huge. There are water jets everywhere. Kids run through them, jump over them, and spend hours trying to predict where the next spray will pop up.

There is plenty of room for lots of children to play at once, so it never feels crowded. One thing parents should know is that there is no shade over the splash pad area. On hot summer afternoons, the ground and surrounding surfaces can get pretty warm.

The climbing structure gives older kids a fun challenge while encouraging active play and exploration.

We usually bring hats, sunscreen, water bottles, and maybe a cold drink for mom because somebody has to stay hydrated, too.

The splash pad is open daily from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm during splash pad season, which makes it a perfect way to cool down on those triple-digit Vegas days.

Another thing I love is that the restrooms are located right next to the splash pad. If you have small kids, you know how important that is. No long walks. No emergency sprints across the park.

Everything is right there when you need it.

The Toddler Playground Is Adorable

The younger playground is designed with little kids in mind. The equipment is lower to the ground and easy for toddlers and preschoolers to navigate. The slides are fun without being intimidating, and there are plenty of opportunities to climb and explore.

My favorite features are the cute play pieces made especially for younger children.

There is a horse teeter-totter that always seems to attract a crowd. There are also little tractors that kids can sit on and pretend they are driving across a farm somewhere far away from the Las Vegas desert.

Younger children love the horse teeter-totter designed just for imaginative play.

The playground feels welcoming and safe. Parents can easily keep an eye on their little ones while they play.

The Big Kid Playground Keeps Older Kids Busy

Older kids have their own dedicated playground area on the opposite side of the splash pad.

This section has all the classic playground favorites. There are slides of different sizes, climbing walls, ladders, monkey bars, and plenty of opportunities for kids to challenge themselves.

What I like about this playground is that it focuses on traditional play. Sometimes, simple is best. Kids are climbing, balancing, hanging, and moving instead of standing around looking for the next activity.

There are no giant rope structures or complicated obstacle courses. It is a classic neighborhood playground done really well. The layout gives kids plenty of room to move around while still feeling safe and easy to supervise.

Swings for Everyone

If your kids are anything like mine, swings are always the most popular attraction. And somehow every playground usually has a waiting line. Thankfully, South Tower Park has multiple swings available. There are bucket swings for younger children and traditional swings for older kids.

This means fewer arguments, less waiting, and happier kids. Honestly, that alone deserves a gold star from parents.

Plenty of Space to Run Wild

Beyond the playgrounds and splash pad, the park has large open grassy areas that are perfect for running around.

You can bring a soccer ball, football, bubbles, or just let the kids make up their own games. Sometimes the simplest activities end up being the most fun.

The grass areas also make South Tower Park a popular spot for birthday parties and family gatherings. Every time we visit, there always seems to be a celebration happening somewhere.

Picnic Areas Make It Easy to Stay Longer

The picnic and barbecue areas are another reason families love this park. Instead of rushing home when everyone gets hungry, you can bring lunch and make a day of it.

The picnic tables are great for snacks, birthday parties, family gatherings, or simply taking a break while the kids recharge before heading back to the playground.

There is something nice about spending an entire morning at the park without needing to leave.

A Great Place for Evening Play

One of the best things about parks in Summerlin is that they stay open later than many people realize.

South Tower Park is open daily until 10:30 pm. During the summer, this is a game-changer.

Many Vegas families wait until the sun starts going down before heading outside. The cooler temperatures make evening park visits much more enjoyable.

The park feels peaceful in the evening. Kids are still playing while parents relax and enjoy the fresh air. It is one of my favorite times to visit.

Final Thoughts From a Vegas Mom

South Tower Park checks all the boxes for a successful family outing. It is clean, open, and safe, and designed to work well for families with children of different ages.

The splash pad keeps everyone cool. The separate playgrounds help prevent chaos. The swings keep the peace. The grassy fields provide room to run. And the picnic areas make it easy to stay for hours.

Most importantly, it is fun.

And sometimes that is all we are really looking for. If you are searching for an easy family activity that will not break the budget, pack some snacks, grab the swimsuits, and head to South Tower Park.

Just don’t be surprised when your kids ask to come back next weekend.
