Some cravings don’t wait—and this past Sunday, it was all about crepes. The kids were feeling it, and honestly, so was I. A couple of weeks earlier, I had visited Cafe Mong’s original location and walked away impressed, already thinking about going back. So when the opportunity came up, it made perfect sense to introduce the family to a spot I knew they’d love. With the new West Sahara location now open and closer to the Summerlin side, it also felt like the perfect excuse to compare the two and see how things stack up.
What followed was a mix of sweet indulgence, familiar flavors, and a very real, very relatable dining experience that most locals will recognize. Because sometimes, it’s not just about the food—it’s about how the whole visit unfolds.

A new corner with familiar potential
The West Sahara Cafe Mong sits right on the corner of W Sahara and Fort Apache, in a plaza that many locals already know well. It’s where an old Starbucks used to be, and it now shares the area with spots like Kungfu Dumplings, Vesta Coffee Roasters, and Ohjah Japanese Steakhouse. In other words, it’s in good company.
The location itself feels convenient and easy to access, especially for anyone living or spending time on the west side. It’s one of those corners you pass often, and now there’s finally a reason to stop.

Walking in, we were immediately greeted by two incredibly friendly staff members at the counter. That same welcoming, easygoing energy from the original location carried over, which is always a good sign when a concept expands. Unfortunately for us, we weren’t the only ones with the same idea—several groups walked in right behind us, quickly turning a casual stop into a much busier moment.

Simple, warm, and just the right size
Inside, the space feels bright, clean, and inviting. Cafe Mong keeps things simple in terms of design, leaning into a warm, approachable aesthetic rather than anything overly styled or trendy. It’s comfortable without trying too hard, which fits the brand perfectly.
That said, it’s worth noting that this location isn’t built for large groups. If you’re planning a big family breakfast, you might find the seating a bit limited. But for smaller groups—two to four people—it works really well and keeps that cozy, cafe-style feel intact.
One detail that stood out right away was the VW Bug-inspired countertop, which doubles as the pickup area for to-go orders. It’s a fun, unexpected design touch that adds personality to the space and gives the cafe a bit of charm beyond just the food.

Starting with something to sip
Before diving into the food, we started with a couple of drinks to cool things down. A cold matcha and an iced latte hit the table first, both refreshing and exactly what you’d want on a warmer Vegas day.

These aren’t overcomplicated drinks—they’re just done right. Clean, smooth, and easy to enjoy, which is really all you need when you’re about to go all in on something sweet.
When the kids take over the menu
This visit quickly turned into a kid-approved experience, and honestly, that’s always one of the best ways to judge a place like this. If the kids love it, you know you’re doing something right.

A classic that goes all in on indulgence
Nutella Banana Crepe
The Nutella banana crepe came out fresh off the griddle, filled generously—maybe too generously, depending on who you ask—with Nutella and topped with sliced bananas. As a parent, you might look at it and think it’s a bit much. As a kid, it’s basically perfection.

My son didn’t hesitate for a second. Bite after bite, he powered through it with full commitment, eventually joking that he might need to see a doctor after finishing it. Safe to say, it was a hit. This is the kind of dish that leans unapologetically into sweetness, and for the right audience, it absolutely delivers.
A new discovery that steals the spotlight
Strawberry Nutella Croffle
Then came something I hadn’t tried before—the strawberry Nutella croffle. If you’re wondering what that is, you’re not alone. It’s essentially a smashed croissant, pressed into a waffle-like texture, then topped with Nutella, fresh strawberries, and a dusting of powdered sugar.
It’s rich, slightly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and loaded with flavor. The croissant base gives it that buttery depth, while the toppings bring the sweetness and freshness. It’s one of those creations that feels a little over the top—but in a way that works.

For my daughter, this was the winner. And honestly, it might have been mine too if I hadn’t already committed to something else.
Going back to a proven favorite
After my last visit to Cafe Mong’s original location, there was no question what I had to order this time. Some dishes just stick with you, and this was one of them.
The dish that set the standard
Salmon Lox Crepe
The salmon lox crepe made its return, and for the most part, it delivered the same flavor profile I remembered. Balanced, savory, and layered with ingredients that complement each other, it still holds its place as one of the standout items on the menu.
The combination of fresh greens, onion, tomato, and that signature tang from the sauce still worked exactly as expected. It’s a dish that feels thoughtful without being overly complicated, and it continues to be a strong recommendation for anyone who prefers something savory over sweet.

That said, this is where the experience shifted slightly. With several groups ordering at the same time, the wait stretched longer than expected—for both drinks and food. It’s one of those moments that doesn’t necessarily define a place, but it does impact the visit.
For a cafe-style concept where you expect a quicker turnaround, the delay stood out. But at the same time, it felt more like a temporary hiccup than a consistent issue. A busy rush, a short-staffed moment—these things happen, especially with newer locations finding their rhythm.

A second location that still delivers
Even with the wait, Cafe Mong on West Sahara holds onto what makes the concept work. The flavors are there. The creativity is there. And most importantly, the welcoming, friendly service is still a constant across both locations.
What this visit really showed is that Cafe Mong isn’t just about one standout dish or one good experience. It’s about consistency in concept—a place where you can try something new, revisit a favorite, and still leave thinking about what you’ll order next time.
Whether you’re on the southwest side or closer to Summerlin, having two locations makes it even easier to work Cafe Mong into your routine. And if you’re heading out on your next crepe-focused adventure, this is a stop that’s absolutely worth making.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about satisfying a craving. It’s about finding a place that makes you want to come back—and Cafe Mong does exactly that.
