Hawthorn Grill: A Summerlin Steakhouse Experience at JW Marriott

Entrance to Hawthorn Grill at Marriott Summerlin

There’s something special about indulging in a great steakhouse experience during a weekend staycation, especially when you’re exploring restaurants within the same resort.

As part of our weekend retreat at the JW Marriott in Summerlin, we decided to make it a point to try out some of the property’s most talked-about dining options.

After a fantastic dinner at ai Pazzi the night before, we reserved a table at Hawthorn Grill—and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our stay.

Setting the Stage: Hawthorn Grill at JW Marriott

Located inside the Spa Tower of the JW Marriott, Hawthorn Grill has long been a cornerstone of Summerlin’s dining scene.

Known primarily as a steakhouse, it strikes a balance between sophistication and comfort, creating a dining atmosphere that welcomes both locals and hotel guests.

With plenty of competition in the steakhouse arena across Las Vegas, Hawthorn Grill stands tall by offering more than just prime cuts—it provides a full experience that leaves you wanting to return.

The Ambiance

The restaurant itself exudes warmth, with a polished yet approachable interior that sets the tone for a relaxed evening.

It’s quiet enough for an intimate dinner yet lively enough to feel part of something special.

One detail that stood out immediately: as we walked to our table, one of the chefs stepped out to pick fresh herbs.

Small touches like this, where you can see freshness at work, bring an authenticity that many restaurants strive for but few deliver.

Starting the Meal

The House Bread

Our dinner began with warm house bread served with creamy butter.

It may sound simple, but the quality of the bread and the richness of the butter set the right tone.

Fresh, soft, and melt-in-your-mouth good—it was the kind of bread basket you don’t want to stop eating.

Lobster Bisque

I opted for the Lobster Bisque as my starter, and I’ll admit, it surprised me.

Unlike the thicker versions you often find, Hawthorn’s take was lighter in consistency.

At first, I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy it. But one sip in, all doubts disappeared—the flavor was deep, comforting, and absolutely delicious.

It was a reminder that sometimes breaking tradition can work in the best way possible.

Sides That Shine

No steakhouse experience is complete without sides, and Hawthorn Grill makes sure theirs aren’t afterthoughts. We ordered two to share, both of which added richness to the meal.

Cremini Mushrooms

The Cremini Mushrooms, sautéed with garlic, thyme, parsley, and white wine, were a standout.

The earthy flavor paired perfectly with the freshness of herbs, offering a savory complement to the main courses.

Crispy Brussels Sprouts

On the other hand, the Crispy Brussels Sprouts brought something different to the table.

Tossed with a spicy aioli, they had just the right balance of crunch, heat, and flavor.

These sprouts could easily be a dish you’d crave on their own.

Main Courses to Remember

The real test of any steakhouse lies in the entrees, and Hawthorn Grill lived up to its reputation with both of our selections.

Caesar Salad

My wife decided to go with the Caesar Salad, a dish that was far from ordinary.

Built with baby heart romaine, sourdough croutons, white anchovies, tomato, shaved parmesan cheese, and prosciutto, it was a refreshing yet substantial choice.

The prosciutto added a layer of indulgence that made it more than just a starter—it felt like a crafted entrée.

The Rib Eye

A Cut Worth Celebrating

As for me, I went with my favorite steakhouse staple—the 16 oz. Rib Eye.

Ordering rib-eye always feels like a gamble; when cooked poorly, the famous fat marbling can end up chewy or burnt.

But Hawthorn Grill nailed it. Perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with flavor, this rib-eye was one of the best I’ve had in quite some time.

Every bite was tender and satisfying, the kind of steak you remember long after the plate is cleared.

Service and Hospitality

Of course, a great meal is about more than just food.

The staff at Hawthorn Grill were friendly, attentive, and professional, striking the right balance between making us feel taken care of and giving us space to enjoy our evening.

Service was quick without ever feeling rushed, which only enhanced the overall dining experience.

Beyond Dinner: Breakfast at Hawthorn Grill

Although we visited for dinner, it’s worth noting that Hawthorn Grill also offers breakfast.

Their morning menu includes a wide variety of options, making it a go-to spot for hotel guests and locals looking for something beyond the usual brunch offerings.

Whether you’re an early riser or looking for a leisurely start to your day, breakfast here is another opportunity to experience the restaurant’s thoughtful approach to dining.

Why We’ll Be Back

When you combine a welcoming ambiance, thoughtful details like fresh-picked herbs, dishes that deliver flavor in every bite, and attentive service, you get a restaurant that stands out even in a city filled with excellent steakhouses.

Hawthorn Grill delivered one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a while, and it was the perfect complement to our Summerlin staycation.

From starters to sides to the star of the show—the rib eye—it was clear that this is a steakhouse worth visiting more than once.

We came in for a quiet dinner and left with the decision that Hawthorn Grill will definitely be on our list of regular return visits.

And for anyone looking for a steakhouse in Summerlin, our advice is simple: make a reservation here sooner rather than later.
