A heartfelt tradition returned to North Las Vegas on Saturday as RnR Radio and the Ronald McDonald House Charity joined forces once again for their annual food drive.
This year marked the ninth time the beloved local radio hosts, Mr. R and Mrs. R, brought their energy, music, and commitment to giving back to the local community.
A Decade of Giving Back
For nearly a decade, RnR Radio has hosted the Ronald McDonald House Charity Annual Food Drive at the same Smith’s Food and Drug location in Aliante.
The grocery store transforms into a hub of generosity annually from 9 AM to 12 PM on February 8th. Shoppers pick up extra items from a wish list provided by Ronald McDonald House Charity that contributes to stocking the pantry for families in need.
The Ronald McDonald House serves as a home for displaced Las Vegas families with kids undergoing medical treatments, ensuring they have meals, a comfortable place to stay, and support during difficult times.
“We love giving back to the community. We’ve been working with the Ronald McDonald House Charity for nine years,” said Mr. R.
This food drive ensures that no family staying at the house has to worry about where their next meal is coming from.
The Smith’s location buzzed with excitement as the familiar sounds of disco and soul hits filled the air. Listeners and shoppers paused their routines to pick up extra groceries for donation, knowing their contributions would make a real difference.
Volunteers worked tirelessly, gathering food, organizing supplies, and spreading the message of giving. With the help of generous Las Vegas residents, the food drive made a significant effort to support families in need.
RnR Radio Bringing the Community Together
RnR Radio, a powerhouse in entertainment, has always believed in giving back. The iHeart syndicated radio show, hosted by husband-and-wife duo Robert Rickenbacker and Pamela Rickenbacker, has built a reputation beyond playing classic hits.
Their show, ‘The Classics with Mr. & Mrs. R,’ brings the best of disco, soul, and R&B from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s to audiences worldwide.
But their impact goes beyond music. From turkey giveaways to toy drives, RnR Radio has supported countless community initiatives.
The annual food drive at Smith’s on Aliante Parkway has become a tradition, reinforcing their commitment to making a difference in Las Vegas.
“It’s important to the Ronald McDonald House to make sure they take care of families and it’s important to Mr. and Mrs. R.,” said Mrs. R.
A Partnership That Started with a Party
The journey of Mr. and Mrs. R is one filled with music, love, and community service. Mr. R’s radio career began in Long Island, New York, before taking him across the country.
After settling in Burbank, California, Mr. R took the opportunity to come to Las Vegas to continue his radio career.
While Mr. R came to Las Vegas for a job, he would then meet his future wife and co-host in the neon city.
Their love story is just as exciting as their career. They met through hip-hop legend Money B from Digital Underground.
Money B convinced Mr. R to attend a party, and through mutual friends, Mrs. R showed up, too. The two hit it off and married in 2011. Since then, they have built a radio empire together while giving back to the communities they call home!
Making an Impact With Every Connection
RnR Radio’s reach extends far beyond Nevada. They are making waves across the country with a syndication presence in Alabama, Texas, California, and New York. RnR Radio’s commitment to charitable work continues to grow, ensuring that families in need receive the help they deserve.
While the event at Smith’s has wrapped up, the impact of this year’s food drive will last far beyond a single day. Families at the Ronald McDonald House will have meals to sustain them during difficult times.
The generosity of the Las Vegas community has once again proven that when people come together, great things happen.
How To Support RnR Radio’s Mission
For those who missed this year’s food drive, there are still many ways to make a difference. Donations to the Ronald McDonald House are always welcome, and their pantry is in constant need of restocking.
Supporters can contribute by purchasing items from their online wish list or dropping off non-perishable goods directly at the Ronald McDonald House at 2323 Potosi St., Las Vegas, NV 89146.
Another way to help is by donating grocery store gift cards, which allow the charity to purchase fresh produce and other essentials throughout the year.
Volunteers are also encouraged to lend a helping hand by sorting donations, stocking shelves, or even assisting with future food drives.
No matter how big or small, every act of kindness helps families in need. RnR Radio and Ronald McDonald House Charity invite the Las Vegas community to keep the spirit of giving alive all year long!
With music, love, and a whole lot of heart, RnR Radio and the Ronald McDonald House Charity have once again proven that giving back never goes out of style!
